Woody B Posted March 20, 2024 Posted March 20, 2024 Have fun. Be careful. Don't let inconsiderate people, or a bad situation ruin your day. As I said earlier, have fun. If there's someone blocking the ramp it will cost you a few minutes. Don't let it ruin your day. If someone is already fishing at, or cuts you off at your favorite spot just go find somewhere else. Confidence is important. Use lures and techniques you're comfortable with. Someone elses way of catching Bass works for them. It may not work for you. Every day is different. Make the most of it. (not just fishing) There is no magic line, lure, knot or technique. Use what you're comfortable with. (back to confidence) Target what you want to catch. Some people want a 25+ Bass day. Some people would prefer fewer, but bigger Bass. (there's some people around here who catch a BUNCH of BIG Bass. My hat's off to them). I was content for a while catching BIG numbers of small Bass. I decided to target bigger Bass. You can leave Bass to find Bass if the Bass you've found aren't what you're after. Do whatever YOU want to do. It's not a contest. Catching 25 ten to fourteen inch Bass is fun. Catching fewer but bigger Bass is fun too. @Bird, you're right. Bass can tell when your net is handy. They won't bite. 4 Quote

I'd rather be making a stupid choice and be right than make the smart choice and be wrong. Find your own fish when you go fishing. Throw bait at object. Keep moving. Where is that doggone bait at? What's the weather been like the last week? What's the weather like right now? I love all of these, especially the two weather comments. I just want to add a couple more: -Know the birds! Know what birds eat what critters and follow the right birds to find the bass. -Wind moves the bait and, thus, the bass. You can turn a day into an epic day sometimes if you fish the wind. -If I say "This is the last cast before I move on" then I will snag on something. -If I say "This is the last cast and I'm going home" I am absolutely lying. 4 Quote

Woody B Posted March 21, 2024 Posted March 21, 2024 I need to add to my previous post. When conditions allow I like to catch a Bass on my last cast. IE if I start getting tired I'll decide "I'm leaving after the next Bass" I'll also occasionally pick a time and tell myself "first Bass after noon, and I'm leaving". Catching a Bass on my last cast leaves me on fire wanting to come back. 1 Quote

Steveo-1969 Posted March 21, 2024 Posted March 21, 2024 To help keep your focus you have to truly believe you are going to get bit on EVERY cast. Even after hours and hours and hundreds of casts with no bites. 3 Quote

Super User scaleface Posted March 22, 2024 Super User Posted March 22, 2024 Its not a competition. I fish for enjoyment. I can have just a good a time in a plastic boat as a bass boat. Social interaction is for bowling night . 1 Quote

Swest18x Posted March 24, 2024 Posted March 24, 2024 Don't watch the weather to decide when to fish. Watch the weather to decide what to wear. I've had some of my best days on the days no one else wants to be on the water. 3 Quote
Obi_Wan Posted March 24, 2024 Posted March 24, 2024 Several of mine are already on here. If the big motor is running, the PFD is on is one. - Follow the game laws. You may not like them, but they're there for a reason that you may not always see. Don't assume you're the smartest guy in the room. - Don't keep more than you can eat, even if its legal. - If fish are hitting the search bait, keep throwing the search bait. - You don't need the most expensive gear to catch fish or to enjoy yourself. - No one else can determine what makes you happy. - Find joy in catching the small ones. 2 Quote
