 I don't think many people pay list for Loomis rods.

 Hmm...

I think everyone I know pays list price.

Hate to tell you but in recent years I have purchused 12 NRX+'s and 2 IMX Pro crankbait rods. I didn't pay retail for any of these.

Deals are few and far between but they can be had if you are in the right place, at the right time or if you know the right guy. Patience is required.

Same here just have to be patient I've never paid retail for any of mine either and I have nearly same amount purchased in last 2 years.  Gotten as little as 15% off and as much as 40%(once).

My local shop just blew out the old inventory of GLXs for $199 at the Redcrest expo.

Several times a year they go on "sale".....because of MAP pricing they usually do something like "buy any GLX, get $150 store gift card" type deal.

Most high-end rods have MAP pricing, so they can never advertise sales on the products.   However, if you contact the dealer directly, many times you can get a better price than the sticker even during non sales times.

I may have asked this before but does the reel seat bother you or is one real brand better than another with it?

On the GLX? I've heard that some people find it uncomfortable, but I love it. Feels great with a few different  reels. I use a Zillion g, Steez A, , Alphas,  and metanium.

All 3 of my NRX+ rods were at minimum 25% off. Call ahead, negotiate, buy in person, has always worked for me.

Up here in Canada, the Loomis pricing goes like this:

GCX $350

IMX Pro $530

GLX $775

NRX+ $899

Conquest $1079

I have two IMX Pro rods and love them but I will never be able to step up to the next level unless I win the lotto lol and even then, $500+ for a rod is a lot in a place where our cost of living is through the roof...

350 for GCX is crazy, they're decent but, wow.

Fondled them at the Classic expo.  893 felt light AF and was balanced.  These are keepers.  Reeds had NRX/ GLX @ 30% off.

The recent, past GLX reel seats are very comfortable for me. I use Zillion G, Alphas SV tw, Metanium, Steez A, and Tatula Sv tw 103. All are great for me.

I got my hands on an 843mbr and the 822 drop shot rod. I can’t compare the spinning rod, but I can do a direct comparison to the last version GLX 843 MBR. New version has a different cork back handle and reel seat. The 2024 843 feels about the same stiffness wise but may be a touch lighter in weight. They are beautiful in person, look super slick. GLX are my favorite rods, and these seem fantastic to me. Coming from a person who regularly fishes 5 different GLX rods.

Local tackle shop still has a few old GLX on the shelf. Asked the guy if they would work out a deal on a 854JWR since it’s discontinued and most online retailers had them on sale. Guy wouldn’t budge and said G Loomis is always full price. Guess he will have take those half dozen rods to his grave.

It’s insane isn’t it?  Prices here in Canada have forced me to shop overseas at a better deal.  LoL

I know you can’t get g Loomis and st croix overseas.

I bought 2 GLX models, the 892c JWR extra fast and 895c FPR ..

I put a Met 100 HG on the FPR

A Met shallow spool edition on the 892..this rod and reel combo is pretty amazing thus far. 🙂

I am not brand specific. I have a variety of high end rod from P5 rods GLX both 2024 version and older,  NRX+ and St Croix. GLX just fishes better to me better than the P5 rods to me. They feel better in my hand and are more comparable to NRX with sensitivity than the P5. High end ST. Croix rods also out fish the P5 rods to me and are also notably more sensitive.

Got the new GLX 843C and love it - I kinda like it more than the NRX+ 843. Not quite as sensitive maybe but a slightly stouter tip and smoother guides with braid to leader

received the 841S yesterday - not sure what I’m gonna do with that one yet but fished a Megabass Karashi today and caught a bunch of dinks. It may become my small swimbait / spark shad rod

Preach about the higher end St. Croixs, so many people sleep on them.

I'm down here in Southern Texas. I don't know squat about Canada but I sure do love following Pierre Poileive on Twitter (X).  Don't know how true Canadians feel about him though.

Hi all!

My GLX 892c broke today.. 😕

Looking to replace it. A bit of a bummer that they did drop the 892c from the line up. Which would be the natural replacement?

* 852c
* 902c
* 893c

I was throwing anything from a 1/8oz ned rig to a 5inch senko on the 892c.

Thanks!
