They look great. Other than the grips and the reel seat I'm not sure what has changed.

They added a bunch of new models to the line up.

No 873 but an 874 with the same specs as an 873.  Very cool

This Dude is already on it!

About as visually exciting as a bowl of oatmeal but I'm glad they stuck to what they know and made a quality conservatively styled rod instead of going off the deep end like St Croix with the space ship grips.

Not that I can afford one lol, but the one set of rods that was missing from the old GLX line was SJR and MBR rods in the 7'6 lengths. The IMX Pro and NRX + have them but not in the middle with the GLX.

It looks like these aren't included this time around either. Its very weird.

The old GLX was overpriced but so are a lot of things in life. It didn’t bother me because it never wanted to go toe to toe with the big boys in the field. Now it’s priced like a halo rod when it isn’t, and the competition isn’t afraid. From a business standpoint breaking the $500 dollar barrier for a stick which from what I’ve read isn’t a new blank, and doesn’t contain the tech which makes the NRX great is a fail. Most other brands use trickle down tech to keep their second tier offerings on pace. Look at Daiwa and the nanoplus/x45 and St. Croix with their blank tech.

Who would buy this compared to a Destroyer that costs less and can be had on sale, or a Steez which is $25 more and is constantly on sale. Even an apples to apples comparison of the Legend Elite/X are still a better value at MSRP and those transfer warranty’s and are often in deep discount.

I think the old GLX was a decent rod with a terrible handle. This new one is a decent rod which costs 30% more than it should. I guess it’s just Loomis sticking with the old “Buy an NRX or don’t bother”.

Take it back TNBank! 😁 I was looking forward to these and like the simple/clean look but not digging the grip on the spinner. Still might try one or two of these. That 7-5 ML looks awesome. Wish they had the NRX foregrip but oh well.

6' spin jig rods are no longer made apparently (721 & 722 sjr).  Oh well...I can't afford even a sale 722 ATM.

I believe there is still an IMX Pro SJR721. not sure how much of a step down it is though.

I've never fished a GLX only IMX Pro which I think are great

GLX is noticeably more sensitive than a p5 or LE Croix.  Don't fall for tech terms these manufacturers invent.  You do pay a premium for the Loomis name though.

I own all of the brands and I will agree to strongly disagree with you. The GLX is not on the P5, Steez, Xtreme level. It’s comparable to the Elite/X lines.

Look, I think fishing is hyper personal. Please if you see a model that calls to you buy it and fish it. Some guy on the internet (me) shouldn’t stop you from enjoying your hobby as you want.

I'm complete joking with ya. You're not wrecking anything for me. I like fishing all the brands and trying new sticks. GLX is a great rod and so are the others.

They are not boring looking, they are things of subtle, refined, touches of natural beauty.

Played with these today in the local shop.....the particular one I had my eye was sublime in the hand.   7'1 MH Extra Fast    Great tip and very parabolic. Would make a killer Free Rig/T-Rig rod, along with a host of other things including some moving baits I'd imagine.

Typical boring yet refined and flawless aesthetics that Loomis rods have always had.

I ain't paying $550 for it though.

I have the last version 7’1” m and mh, both are amazing.  Only way I’ll be getting a new one is if I break one of mine. Expensive

I'm a rod and reel addict and I freely admit it, but I have my limits and the upper end rods are above it. Don't get me wrong,  I've bought some upper level used stuff and grade B stuff like my Legend Extreme and the Legend X I got at the the St Croix factory in WI, but the only time I can justify it at retail is when the new models come out and the old ones are discounted. Beyond that, I tend to cap out around $200 - $250.

I picked up an IMX Pro. (854c JWR) last fall when the local shop was clearing them out and had them all for 35% off. Recently ALF had their GLXs starting around $299 so I picked up an 853c JWR, then they knocked the remaining ones down to $279 so I ordered a 783c MBR that is supposed to arrive today.

That being said,... I do like to follow the new models coming out and seeing how technology trickles down. It's just hard to justify the higher dollar stuff due to diminishing returns. Too many times I've splurged and stepped up to a higher end model expecting huge differences, the clouds to part, light to shine down from above due to people's raving reviews only for reality to step in and go,...Meh! I guess it might be noticeably more "Sensitive" 😁😁

Up here in Canada, the Loomis pricing goes like this:

GCX $350

IMX Pro $530

GLX $775

NRX+ $899

Conquest $1079

I have two IMX Pro rods and love them but I will never be able to step up to the next level unless I win the lotto lol and even then, $500+ for a rod is a lot in a place where our cost of living is through the roof...

I have a bunch of Loomis stuff. I got most of them used (all GLX were used) or very discounted for my IMX-Pro. I don't think many people pay list for Loomis rods.

The thing is, other than 'no tax' sales, there is really no way to pay less than list price if you are buying new. All the rod stores up here have them at the same prices always. The best I've been able to do is get them to give me them at no tax which is about 13%.

If you buy used then of course its a totally different story.

Personally, I like to buy new rods esp with higher end ones. you never know how someone else treated the rod before you. Its crazy how many people lie on places like Facebook marketplace to try to get more money

eg. "Its brand new never been cast!" meanwhile its all scuffed with rod rash lol

I may have asked this before but does the reel seat bother you or is one real brand better than another with it?
