wonkyrig Posted March 19, 2024 Posted March 19, 2024 Probably heading up to Chickamauga this weekend, super excited. Not yet sure where we'll launch, but maybe Dayton. Are there any areas where we need to be cautious of stumps or unmarked obstructions? Running navionics mapping, just curious if there's anything I need to be aware of when off the main channel. If anyone has any tips or suggestions, would certainly appreciate it as well. I primarily finesse and crank on Lanier so hoping to get outside of my norm a bit but still do some stuff I'm confident with. Thanks! Quote
Global Moderator TnRiver46 Posted March 19, 2024 Global Moderator Posted March 19, 2024 There are several hundred places to watch out for at the current water levels on chickamauga 😂. Right outside of Harrison bay is a place that gets a lot of folks, I’ve dragged up some mud around there. There used to be a running count on a local forum of how many boats were dry docked in the mud. Quote

Chart says there are some 6 foot spots there and the lake is down 5-6 below full pool right now so that makes sense. Do you think I'll be good so long as I pay attention to my charts? The only thing I'm concerned about is trees/stumps. The corps capped trees at 35-40 below pool on Lanier, but I've been to some other lakes where they draw down and tops of trees are just under the surface or poking above. Quote

Man it’s up to you, I would never run by chart but then again I’ve bounced off some things but always at a snails pace 😂 . I would just idle unless your inbetween the red and green buoys but that’s just me, I’m never in a hurry outside an island does sound correct, it seems like your in an ocean then all of a sudden it’s ankle deep I don’t think tva cut any trees, they’ve all just rotted away over time but there’s plenty of stumps where I think landowners cut trees before the dams . The mud will get ya stuck pretty bad too Quote
