I picked up a used Shimano Aldeberan MGL 51.

It's used, but the braking is different, see pics. I've not seen this before the braking. It has 12 extra strong magnets that I pulled off for now. Previous owner from what I learned modded it to this braking. I pulled off the extra 12 magnets and just the magnets that are on there.

Checking out the reel, seems all to be working great, only seems external cosmetics with scratches. Turning the handle all seems smooth.

Anyone in the U.S. airbrush reels? I may look into doing that.

It's not a shallow BFS spool, just It's stock spool.

I'd like to ask you, what pound braid line should I use?

Magnetic braking systems are far more advanced than just adding magnets. You have to get a magnetic field properly aligned which requires having the magnets all oriented correctly, gaussing them to make sure they are close to each other.

I wonder if the person that did this had any idea what they were doing? The aldebaran is one of the best reels...it doesn't need modded in this nature.
