I recently did the trade in thing at BPS just to clear out some old equipment that I no longer used

While I was there, I noticed they redesigned most of the CarbonLite lineup.

I finally pulled the trigger on two combos because I feel that the CL series is finally up to par.  I've never owned one before because they were always much heavier and like twice the diameter of other rods I use for comparable power.

The reels are a bit lighter than the older 2.0 versions, and look "cleaner".  They resemble a smaller Curado DC with the side plate redesign and placement of the magnetic brake control.  They have dual brakes...centrifugal and magnetic.  They're either 7.3 or 8.3.

I picked up a black carbonlite technique specific frog rod, coupled with a new gunmetal gray carbonlite reel in 8.3:1.  I plan to use this combo for frogs and punching mats on 30lb braid.

I also got one of the newly redesigned white carbonlite rods in MH/XF with a new white carbonlite reel in 7.3:1.  This combo will be used for Texas rigged worms and small creature baits with 1/8oz - 3/16oz tungsten bullet weights, and 20lb hercules 8 strand braid.

The rods are smaller in diameter than the older 2.0 versions, and the reels feel really nice and smooth.

I used the frog rod twice so far and caught a few fish on it pitching jigs.  Sensitivity is pretty good...par for a $120 rod I'd say.

The Cabelas I went to had the reels listed as "carbontech" next to the old ones listed as "carbonlite", but anyway I noticed the external brake that looked like a Shimano, but bought a Daiwa SV. They had the new sweet looking St Croix Avid rods too, hope they bring back a few models.

I have several of the carbonlite spinning reels, really like them.
1 baitcaster that seems really nice, but rarely used cuz it’s a on a frog rod rarely use. All the older models I guess.
3 rods with 1 complaint- one of the rods is turning yellow. ☹️ about 2 years old.

The new ones here are listed as simply "Carbonlite" as opposed to "carbonlite 2.0"

They're a tad lighter than the older ones, and the side plate is smoother.

I have three of the 2.0’s I like them. Wouldn’t mind trying out one of the new ones.

In my opinion, the newer models are superior.  I think they changed manufacturers for the rods, because the newer ones are MUCH lighter, and the split grip section is shorter with a different style of Winn grip.

They're identical to the new white ones, just without the paint job.
