throttleplate Posted March 15, 2024 Posted March 15, 2024 I downsized from a Plano guide series which was bulky to an old Plano 6303 series which is the old original 6303 back when rivets were still used to hold it together unlike the new ones which are all plastic, the old 6303 cost me $8.00 at an estate sale, new ones are $35.00. I switched because the big box was to heavy and bulky to carry over rocks, boulders, down and up hills gettin to our bank fishing spots The smaller plano holds everything i use and eliminates lures i never used, in my situation bigger isnt always better. 10 Quote
Super User GreenPig Posted March 15, 2024 Super User Posted March 15, 2024 Nice. I don't see Super Flukes. I'm pretty sure that's it's illegal to not have a back of Flukes. 3 2 Quote
Super User new2BC4bass Posted March 15, 2024 Super User Posted March 15, 2024 I've managed to accumulate quite a few lures (not as many as some) over the years. However, in actuality I use even fewer types of lures than is in your Plano. A 10 inch weightless ribbontail, a spinnerbait, and either a shallow running squarebill or crankbait are the most used. In a blue moon or two, I will use an F-11 Rapala or a lipless crankbait. BUT I am retired now. My wife passed away March 3rd from her two dementia diseases so I hope to get out and try another 2 or 3 types of lures while I still can. Fewer lures causes less anxiety. Four rods instead of ten makes rod selection easier. More isn't always better. 6 6 Quote
DaubsNU1 Posted March 15, 2024 Posted March 15, 2024 @new2BC4bass condolences on your loss. Sadness. @throttleplate strong work with tackle storage! This is something I struggle with, and yet excel at. Daughter's call it my "-tism" -- HA! I like to call it organization skills / obsession to maximize available storage space / utilization of resources. 3 Quote

LOL, i had a good run with super flukes 2 years ago and then started to include walleye fishing into the bass deal. I then switched over to Mimic Minnow type paddle tails which i allready have them in my box each tied up with a leader. 1 Quote
fishhugger Posted March 15, 2024 Posted March 15, 2024 Man, I don't even like looking at that big ol Plano... I think your away better off. The fun quotient itself should be worth it... How do those cylinders holding... Jig heads work?? Did they make it to your smaller box.... Quote

I came close a handfull of times of slipping, stepping on a wobbly rock and falling on the rocks and getting seriously injured. I will not be going back to that dam anymore, just to dangerous. Yes, the rubber rollers work great in the bottom of the small box as i have every jig on the roller allready tied up with a palomar knot, a foot of fluoro leader and a spro swivel #8. 4 Quote

Motoboss Posted March 16, 2024 Posted March 16, 2024 @new2BC4bass my sincere condolences for the loss of your Wife. My Wife of 48 years just this Monday has been diagnosed with Cancer and the anxiety is overwhelming. I too agree that less is more as I recently went through a gear cull, smaller tackle box and fewer rods are easier to manage. Wishing you the best. Get out and fish 1 2 Quote
Super User new2BC4bass Posted March 16, 2024 Super User Posted March 16, 2024 I'll be praying for your wife. Which stage? A brother had stage 4 in his throat a few years ago. Still fishing. There's a little pond that was dug out for those of us living in the villa to fish at. Will take 2 rods there tomorrow morning. One with a spinnerbait and the other with weightless worm. Doubt I'll even bother taking any extra worms. Probably would have taken only one rod, but I bought a new and new-2-me reel I want to try out. 1 Quote

Thank you, we see the Gynecologist Oncologist Monday morning for verification and a PET scan Thursday. That’s how new this is to us! Anyway, yeah always have to take the new rig out to test and the spinnerbait and worm are the fish catch’n est baits I know of. 😀 Good luck! Quote
greentrout Posted March 17, 2024 Posted March 17, 2024 90 percent of the time I'm on the bank hitting various spots looking for the LMB. This is all I bring with me. Good Fishing 1 Quote
