Bazoo Posted March 9, 2024 Posted March 9, 2024 I've been thinking about spinnerbait colors. I've had success with orangish/sunfish and white. I don't think I've ever had success with anything else. Maybe because I rarely throw anything else, though I do try others occasionally. I was checking ebay out, and I ran across these really bright skirts, I don't think I've ever seen skirts/spinnerbaits that were actually bright like this, most are dull. How would they do? What colors are everyone's sleeper colors? The colors that your normal person might see but not normally consider. Thanks all, John 2 Quote
DennyB Posted March 9, 2024 Posted March 9, 2024 For me the color doesn't really matter as long as they're white with copper blades! 3 3 Quote
Super User Bird Posted March 9, 2024 Super User Posted March 9, 2024 It's a reaction bait where I believe the blade choice may be of more importance, slow vs fast. That said, I throw mostly bluegill for LM and white for SM........Our water is very clear. Quote
Super User LrgmouthShad Posted March 9, 2024 Super User Posted March 9, 2024 White is my best color 17 minutes ago, Bazoo said: The colors that your normal person might see but not normally consider. A solid chartreuse is often overlooked in favor of chartreuse/white or chartreuse/blue but I very much like a solid chartreuse. Blue glimmer is popular but green glimmer less so. If your water is relatively clear but has a green tint to it, try a green glimmer. It is great in the summertime Lastly black and chartreuse is massively overlooked for dirty water 2 Quote
Super User gim Posted March 9, 2024 Super User Posted March 9, 2024 Traditionally, I have done pretty well with white and white/chartreuse. The past 3 seasons, black has been by far my most productive color (skirt), with either gold or silver blades. I had always used black when fishing at night time, but one rainy day a few seasons ago, I tried tossing it. It mopped up. 4 Quote

Super User gim Posted March 9, 2024 Super User Posted March 9, 2024 @LrgmouthShad I usually don't do a whole lot of night time fishing, but a black spinnerbait has generally produced. I had left that black one tied on one of my setups and when I went fishing in the rain a week later, it was still on there. I thought "huh, maybe I should try that" and hit the jackpot just by chance. It does kind of make sense though since it would be "darker" out while it's raining just like it is at night time. I have not done very well with black when it's day time and the sun is out. That's when I go to brighter colors like white or green skirts 1 Quote
Super User LrgmouthShad Posted March 9, 2024 Super User Posted March 9, 2024 @gimruis heck yeah. as it so happens I have a black n blue tied on currently. Quote

Super User king fisher Posted March 10, 2024 Super User Posted March 10, 2024 Black Black and chartreuse Black and blue White, and grey White chartreuse and white chartreuse and blue chartreuse blade colors, white, chartreuse, nickel, gold, and orange It always amazes me to hear someone say there favorite jig color is black and blue but they have never even tried a black and blue spinner bait. I have always thought of a jig as a broken spinnerbait. It is also odd that people favor black buzz baits, but don't use black spinnerbaits. I always thought buzz baits were just spinnerbaits with funny looking blades. I have great success with black and combinations of black in all my lures, and I don't even fish at night. 2 Quote

Super User scaleface Posted March 10, 2024 Super User Posted March 10, 2024 I dont have a favorite color. Whites and chartreuses in the spring, later duller bait fish patterns are productive. I like to scale down the blades and the skirt. 1 Quote
