c17Lat Posted December 16, 2006 Posted December 16, 2006 I was planning on getting bps xps fluorocarbon for my baitcaster, since i've been reading that everything about fluorocarbon is better than mono except the price. but then I heard that they cause a lot more backalshes than mono. Is this true? Quote
Super User Raul Posted December 16, 2006 Super User Posted December 16, 2006 Not in my experience, backlashes are produced by the angler not by the line, do something stoopid and the beast will turn back and bite you. The only reason why I gave up on fluoro is that I can 't see the line well against the water. Quote
Super User dodgeguy Posted December 17, 2006 Super User Posted December 17, 2006 this is one time i have to dissagree with you raul!!!most flouros are stiffer than most mono lines and there for do not cast as well.seguar is the most flexible flouro from what i have heard from guys who use flouro but stretch tests have proven it stretchs more than mono.that leaves you with the only advantage is the invisibilty factor. Super User dodgeguy Posted December 17, 2006 Super User Posted December 17, 2006 i said most not all.cajun red lightning is the stiffest line i have ever seen and it is a mono.ocean guys love it for trolling.it casts worse than any line i have ever used.on the other end of the spectrum is cajun red cast which is nice and limp and casts great. HomersTomaco Posted December 17, 2006 Posted December 17, 2006 flourocarbon is stiffer than mono, which means more backlashes. Some of the new lines they are coming out with this year are less stiff. Quote
