New Daiwa Tatula Elite Spinning reel

I guess Daiwa was losing $ on the now discontinued Tatula LTs. $300 for the new Elite which looks very much to be a LT. Even has an anti-reverse switch, thank heaven. A few tech upgrades maybe? I'll wait for a sale on the 3000.

The weight went up a little bit over the Tatula LT, probably because they added a bearing but I agree they look very similar.

 

Quite a price jump though.

I have 2 of the LT's and it's a little shocking the direction they went here. The Tatula LT is a great reel.

2018 Tatula LT and "new" Elite has Zaion.

2023 Tatula LT MQ has Zaion V.

 

My guess they switched over to Zaion V due to cost.

I don't know if this is different from the original LT but the hook up tackle says they downsized the body. 2000 body with 2500 spool and rotor, 2500 body with 3000 spool, and 3000 with 4000 spool and rotor. 

 

Edit: but if they did that why are the weights the same or a little more

The Tatula LT reels are my favorite spinning reels. These do look pretty similar. $100 bump.

I thankfully don't need any more spinning reels so I won't have to check these out.

Trying to figure out why I would spend more to buy one of these over a Ballistic or a Shimano Vanford?

 

Ive been EXTREMELY happy with both and don't think I see a need to bump price even more for another Tatula variant over Ballistic or Vanford?

I was curious to see how Daiwa would address the hole they left in line up as they really didn't offer a featherweight reel anymore.

I have put 2500 spools on 2000 bodies and vice versa (Kage and Tatula LT) just to see if they fit. They do.

Daiwa is still making the Tatula MQ LT which is a great reel for the price. My question is what is the drag on the new Elites? I can't find it anywhere

Been fishing 3 Daiwa Tatula MQ LT Spinning Reels (3000D-CXH) this spring.

Mounted them on the new St. Croix Avid Series Spinning Rods 7 ft Medium.

Mostly for throwing Jerkbaits but it's a set up that is extremely versatile.

Reels are light, small for their 3000 size, powerful, silky smooth,

cast great and manages the light braid I prefer perfectly.

Nothing but happy with both deals so far.

In fact, here's a recent clip of the reels drag getting a workout.

I've been using the new elite for 1 month long hrs with it and I'm not really impressed with it.  It's starting to feel very geary and you can hear the gears meshing.  Sure enough you can feel it in the hands too.  Save your money and get Vanfords.

A little grease on the gears and oil the bearings and it'll be the reel you want it to be. Daiwa's are known for being on the dry side out of the box.

EDIT: Nevermind, I see it's a spinning reel now.
