Dustin Cosby Posted March 5, 2024 Posted March 5, 2024 I have a question I have 2 HDS 5” gen2 units one at console one at bow, and an Elite Ti2 12” at console. I’m looking at putting an FS 9” at bow and getting rid of both HDS 5’s. So my question is, can I share waypoints and ducers between the FS and Ti2 units three NMEA 2000 network? I know that Ethernet is not compatible with Ti2 but was hoping through NMEA I could network between them at least for waypoint management and swapping between ducers? I have triple shot on transom and was planning to use split shot with y cable for 2d on trolling motor is this possible? Quote
Solution Troy85 Posted March 7, 2024 Solution Posted March 7, 2024 I use NMEA 2000 to link my Elite Ti and my FS. I currently share waypoints between the two. My FS is at the console and my Ti is on the bow. I generally fish water that is less than 3' deep, so I have honestly never even tried to share the my ducer with the bow mounted Ti. If I have time this evening I'll go out in the backyard and try. I have a Ti, so this may be different for your Ti2, but I do notice that the waypoint icons can sometimes be slightly different between the FS and the Ti. Once I was dropping diamond marked waypoints on my FS, but they were showing up as heart icons on my Ti. 1 Quote

From what I have read the HDS,FS, and Ti models all have the Ethernet port but it’s best not to connect them threw Ethernet due to software differences but you can connect threw NMEA. The difference with Ti2 is that the unit has no Ethernet port and cannot be synced with other units so fingers crossed NMEA will atleast let me share waypoints. With the ducers I don’t think I will have issues because I’ll be running the same 3 way active image transducers front and back. With you saying you do this with the FS/Ti gives me that much more hope lol. Quote
Vilas15 Posted March 11, 2024 Posted March 11, 2024 I've just done a ton of research trying to figure out how to organize my units and ran into this. NMEA will share waypoints but both units need to be turned on. Any waypoint you create you will see pop up on the other unit as well. But they won't be able to share all current saved waypoint created before the link. You'll have to find a way to share those through SD cards or something. NMEA cannot share transducer data or maps, you need ethernet to do that which as you mentioned is not compatible with Ti2. Quote

This may be true, I transferred all my waypoints from old unit to new via SD card before connecting NMEA. So I cannot say if old waypoints transfer, but I know any current ones do. Quote
