Justbass11 Posted March 2, 2024 Posted March 2, 2024 Have some mildew on my seats from lack of care. (I know bad boy) anyway is star brite mold & mildew cleaner the same as regular mildew cleaner? Inquiring minds would like to know, plus there is a big price difference in the two. Thanks for your input. Quote
Susky River Rat Posted March 2, 2024 Posted March 2, 2024 I would think the biggest difference is starbrite is bio degradable enviro safe and tested on boat surfaces to be safe. That May not be the case with something else. Quote
Global Moderator TnRiver46 Posted March 2, 2024 Global Moderator Posted March 2, 2024 I’ve never tried it but their stuff is usually really good. We used simple green back when I was young and we had a pleasure boat 1 Quote
Super User gim Posted March 2, 2024 Super User Posted March 2, 2024 If your seats are made of vinyl, you can try Boat Bling Vinyl Sauce. It’s very easy to use. Spray on and wipe off with a microfiber towel. I use it more as a water spot and stain remover, plus it provides UV protectant. I’ve never tried using it for mold or mildew, my seats never get that bad. Might be worth a try though. 1 1 Quote
airshot Posted March 2, 2024 Posted March 2, 2024 Once you remove the mold, be sure to treat the vinyl with something to soften and protect it. Mold removing chemicals can be harsh, many things out there to bring life back to vinyl.. 1 Quote
airshot Posted March 4, 2024 Posted March 4, 2024 Back in my youger days, I was sort of a car guy. This was when vinly roofs were popular. D&L hand cleaner with lanolin was the perfect cleaner and preserver for vinyl roofs. Smear on the greasy stuff and stubborn stains came off with a soft brush. Rinse and the vinyl is soft and pliable. Never saw a vinyl roof crack when treated with D&L. Neighbor is an old car guy, has about a dozen 70's performance cars. He still uses this stuff on his vinyl roofs and they look like new. Under a new name today but still great stuff. I also used it on my vinyl interiors, especially the seats. Gets the crud off and leaves the vinyl nice and soft, neighbor has no cracks in any of his seats, claims the hand cleaner has protected them..... Quote
