Doubles Posted March 1, 2024 Posted March 1, 2024 Hello- I’m exploring tackle storage options. I fish as a co-angler, so I’m looking for somewhat compact storage options that still hold quite a bit. Specifically, looking for a great solution that organizes my terminal tackle yet is still compact enough to bring along while a co-angler. Thanks in advance for any recommendations. Quote
Smirak Posted March 1, 2024 Posted March 1, 2024 Depending on how “small/compact” you want, the Plano edge terminal box is pretty good. It’s a 3700 thin. Quote
KP Duty Posted March 1, 2024 Posted March 1, 2024 When I roll non-boater, I use a simple bag that holds 5 standard 3700's (or 8 thin 37's) and a terminal box on top. I use the plano terminal box, but if you like the foam bullet weight holders, Academy's h20x terminal box is nice @ $15. https://www.academy.com/p/h2ox-premium-terminal-tackle-utility-box?sku=blue-black&gmc_feed=t&&ogmap=SEM|PLN|GOOG|SHOP|m|OUT|IM|Non-Brand-PerformanceMax-Outdoor-Co-Op-FishingEquipment|FishingEquipment||19660013957|0&gad_source=1&gclid=CjwKCAiAloavBhBOEiwAbtAJOzcWgZkoUndlhZG48TZgs0X1RUn3sLtdj0weHuK6Y9R_TOfIeDgkdBoCQX4QAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds I use this one for hooks only.... https://www.planooutdoors.com/rustrictor-terminal-1592774?variant=PLASV455&gad_source=1&gclid=CjwKCAiAloavBhBOEiwAbtAJOyiOgWWC-d5exv915nI8yC9px_uZn0TtDVRRyk18r2URfH-NoziaNBoCNVQQAvD_BwE Quote
JN94 Posted March 1, 2024 Posted March 1, 2024 It's an expensive option, but I like the Buzbe boxes. It helps minimize wasted space since you can swap the individual bins out in order to fit whatever it is you're storing most efficiently Quote
Super User Bankc Posted March 1, 2024 Super User Posted March 1, 2024 I would look into tackle bags designed to hold either 3600 or 3700 style boxes. I have one that holds 7x 3600 boxes that I've used for several years now and has carried all of the tackle I could ever need, in a single, convenient bag that's easy to access. I own more tackle than that bag will hold, but depending on the lake and time of year, there's always a lot of baits that I can easily rule out. So I just swap out 3600 boxes as needed. The idea behind the bag being that it's easy to carry everything you need at once and move it out of the way quickly, if need be. What size bag depends on how much you plan to bring. I prefer the 3600 boxes because they're smaller, so it makes organizing easier if you're not taking everything with you. You can usually carry more boxes that way and have them divided into smaller groupings. But the 3700 sized boxes are just as good if you prefer the bigger boxes. Plus 3700 is the more standard and readily available size. But I do recommend that whatever size you get, you get good, quality boxes, as I've owned some of the cheap ones, and they're not worth the money. The Plano Pro Latch are a good, low-cost start. If you can inspect them in person, just look for good latches, hinges and dividers. A little tip about those boxes: I prefer to using a plastic welding iron to weld the little dividers into place so they don't fall out and water doesn't migrate around. Just drop one in place and slowly trace the edges with a low watt soldering iron or plastic welding iron, and it'll fuse the gaps. Quote

Its just too wide.. On the other hand, love their Flatz bags. Quote

My shore bag is this one - Rodeel Fishing Tackle Bag Holds 6x3600 boxes in the main compartment, 1x3600 in the front pocket and 1x3600 under the elastic cord on top.Plenty of pocket space and MOLLE system attachments up front. 1 Quote

That's more or less what I have with just a couple of minor, cosmetic differences. I would have linked to it, but I can't find it for sale anywhere anymore. Still, it's a great, compact layout and just about the perfect size. 1 Quote

If they were too thin you wouldn't have that. You can also run some of the spots with no bins and just place your tackle (doesn't really work with terminal - moreso for lures) directly on the bottom of the box provided it's surrounded by bins to keep it in place Quote
Super User FishTank Posted March 1, 2024 Super User Posted March 1, 2024 It depends on how minimal you want to be. I just started taking both of these when bank fishing. They will fit in cargo shorts or pants. They hold everything I need as far as terminal tackle goes. Both are from Ryugi. There is a knock off version of the box on Amazon. 1 Quote
JediAmoeba Posted March 1, 2024 Posted March 1, 2024 I am a coangler a lot - I use a tackle backpack that holds 2 3600 deep boxes in the bottom. In the top I put all my soft plastics for the day and other stuff. In the pockets I put all my necessities, pliers, etc. I organize the 3600 boxes from all my other tackle to throw what I need for the day. Every time I get in the boat it's a different assortment. I usually take 5 rods. Quote
Motoboss Posted March 16, 2024 Posted March 16, 2024 I went to a Plano Guide soft box and very happy with it. Pick your size and compact and portable. Quote
