Super User Mobasser Posted February 29, 2024 Super User Posted February 29, 2024 It's been said here on BR that if you have the bite dialed in, you don't need all that much tackle. I fish from a boat, and the bank, usually a couple of bank trips per week. Over the years, I've tried various tackle boxes, tackle packs, and a small backpack to carry tackle for bank fishing. I wasn't really happy with any of these options. Yesterday, I bought a small camo waist pack that was originally made for hunting. Mine has two zippered compartments, one larger and one smaller. With two Plano 4' x 6' boxes, and one smaller box, I can carry everything I need for a two hr bank trip. You can wear this pack in front, on the side, or in the back. This small waist pack, along with one rod, will be my bank fishing setup this season. This three dollar ( on clearance) waist pack should work out perfectly. What will you be using to carry your tackle from the bank this coming season? 8 Quote

Solution JediAmoeba Posted February 29, 2024 Solution Posted February 29, 2024 I big tackle backpack - even for bank trips I usually need 3 rods since 1 is always a swimbait setup for 2-6 oz baits. 1 Quote

Super User Team9nine Posted February 29, 2024 Super User Posted February 29, 2024 …but the little fanny packs aren’t bad if you need to carry a larger selection of lures. I’ve used them on and off over the years. 3 4 Quote
OmegaDPW Posted February 29, 2024 Posted February 29, 2024 Bank fish here. Backpack works for me. One pocket for bait, one pocket for hooks/weights and the main pocket for a plano style box. 1 Quote

fin Posted February 29, 2024 Posted February 29, 2024 It varies for me, depending on which banks I’m fishing. Some are a short walk, some are a hike. For the longer walks, I tend to carry less stuff overall. Usually I use a sackpack (drawstring backpack) that weighs nothing. Sometimes it’s packed full, sometimes practically empty. Sometimes I fish strictly soft baits, so no Plano. I’ve got a variety of sizes of Planos and use the smallest I can live with. Sometimes I do the pocket thing, and it feels great until I wish I had that one lure… I like the waist packs, I just haven’t run across one locally that I like, at a decent price. I’m about to come into a fish scale, which is going to throw me a curve. It’s not my style at all to carry something so big and bulky. I don’t know how I will cope with carrying it. I sense something new may be on the horizon. 1 Quote

Super User Catt Posted February 29, 2024 Super User Posted February 29, 2024 My attack bag is carried in the boat or on the bank. In the center zipper is 3 Plano Pro Latch Utility 3500 Box filled with hooks, weights, punch stops, & miscellaneous items. My most popular plastics, frogs, spinnerbaits, topwater. In the truck is 3 Quote
greentrout Posted February 29, 2024 Posted February 29, 2024 Yesterday fished a residential pond with a Flambeau micro pocket tackle box with 4 inline spinners and a nail clipper. Small pliers in the back pocket. Good Fishing 3 Quote
Functional Posted February 29, 2024 Posted February 29, 2024 I take an old drawstring backpack. I have one small box for hooks/weights/etc. and one small plano for some hard baits then just toss in a few packs of plastics for whatever I conditions I expect im fishing for that bank trip. Light, simple, cheap. 1 Quote
Super User Choporoz Posted February 29, 2024 Super User Posted February 29, 2024 Based on posts above, I just need bigger pockets. I could have saved the cost of the box I felt I needed to put down by the dock🤣 1 2 Quote
TLHSS Posted February 29, 2024 Posted February 29, 2024 I am a minimalist. Everything I need fits in a 6th Sense small bait bag. 1 Quote
Super User Bankc Posted February 29, 2024 Super User Posted February 29, 2024 For bank fishing, I often just bring one rod, and one bait, and maybe leave a backup in the car. If I'm fishing soft plastics, I might bring a couple of them. Typically, if I'm going to be fishing for several hours, I'll go ahead and bring the kayak. So if I'm bank fishing, it's because I don't have much time and usually don't get too upset about having to leave early because I've lost my lures. 2 Quote

Derek1 Posted February 29, 2024 Posted February 29, 2024 I use the 4”x9” Plano box. Modified with my Dremel. Fits in my back pocket a bag of assorted soft plastics in my front pocket and pliers in my other back pocket. 1-3 rods this usually gives me up to 9 bait choices. That’s more than I end up needing. But it’s nice to pack light and have some options. 1 Quote
JGD Posted March 1, 2024 Posted March 1, 2024 I’m strictly a bank fisherman so I use a sling pack that I wear across my body. I rotate it behind me when actually fishing then bring it around when changing baits etc. Works super slick. It’s not real large but I can carry more stuff in it than I’ll ever need. Far as I’m concerned it’s the only way to go when you want to be mobile. John 1 Quote

Holds a bunch of stuff, and I barely know it's on while I'm casting. It's perfect for me and super durable going on 6 years now. 4 Quote

I currently use this and quite pleased with it: https://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-forums/topic/255752-minimalist-fishing/?do=findComment&comment=2999001 Quote
Super User Bankbeater Posted March 1, 2024 Super User Posted March 1, 2024 Most of the time I will carry a BPS 360 tackle bag, and three rods. 1 Quote
