Wasn't talking about Pros, this time of year there is hundreds of anglers on Toledo Bend. Don't recall any Pros catching a double digit bass & yet there have been 12 caught in 2 months.

The A-Rig was always a seasonal deal. At least around here, it's a wither/early spring suspended fish  thing. once the water warms a bit they get off it. 

FFS will chase them year 'round.  If that tube video the Zaldain put out with the tour of the pros Electronics doesn't open B.A.S.S.'S eyes, I give.

If you think about it pre FFS this is what the ned rig was achieving with the light jig head small rubber. If you kept it moving and never let it touch down it would hover and flutter off the bottom. Now you didn’t know you were target specific fish but the idea is very much the same.

This past weekend I caught a few on FFS with a Damiki rig setup but I didn't use an actual Damiki jighead or Damiki bait. I picked up the jig and small fluke baits at my local tackle shop.

 

So today I went online to price out the "official" jighead and baits and guess what? They are on back order everywhere.

 

It seems every manufacturer is now joining the craze with their own baits and jigs. I even saw one called an FFS Minnow.

 

Love it or hate it, the one thing it seems to be doing is spreading out the anglers on each lake and opening up waters that are generally overlooked. How many times have you motored out to your favorite point or creek channel and found boats already there? Now you have more options to find quality fish.

I gotta away from deep cranking for smallmouth in the summer and like the newer techniques as well but nothing like a crank bite for big smallies on St Clair. Will really stick with it post spawn.

My kid is usually upfront and out fishes the hell out of me by numbers and size. I'm usually getting his scraps.
