Best Budget Spinner Bait

I fish from the bank and haver NEVER fished a swim bait but want to start. I have no idea what I should be looking for, color, size, that sort of thing. I fish mostly highly pressured lakes and ponds that are stained most of the year.
What would you guys recommend? Keep in mind I’m new to this and I am on a tight budget for these.

Thanks

Swim bait a Rage Swimmer 3.75 on a Texas rig. You wont get hung a lot and hooks are cheaper the jig heads. Peg your sinker Spinnerbait a Booyah or Berkley , You can pick some up around 4 bucks or so at Wally

World. I really like the new Berkley Spinnerbaits. Give em a try

Are you looking for a spinner bait or a swim bait? I just want to clarify before answering.

If you are looking for swimbaits, hard or soft?

Agree with @bowhunter63, hit up Wally-World and pick up some spinnerbaits.

I like 3/8 oz., get white, chartreuse, and black. Good to go!

This was caught on a Strike King Banshee (DSG/F&S/Public Lands exclusive), 3/8oz, white/chartreuse - with a 4" Berkley Pit Boss in Skeet's Chartreuse Shad as the trailer. (Ya, it's my profile pic). They run about $5 each.

I've tried the $1 ones from Walmart and they are worth exactly $1 so you get what you pay for.

Good ones for the money.... any of the ones from Booyah and when you can get them on sale, usually $5, the BPS XPS's. Good hook and decent components.

The cheapest ones I see on the regular are the Northland Reed Runners.  Usually they are about 3 bucks.

The durability is exactly as you stated though, you get what you pay for.  One pike hits that thing and its toast.  The frame is bent and then its a Christmas tree ornament.

Whatever is cheapest - the only thing I would stress on cheap spinnerbaits is to check the crimp on the area where the blades attach to the arm. Sometimes it isn't closed all the way and you will quickly lose the top blade.

I've caught piles of fish and big ones on the $1 Walmart spinner baits and my first big fish of my life was caught on one! They seem fine.

I find spinnerbaits are nuanced and fussy and require commitment and learning regardless of what type you select to start.  It's a pretty broad category and there's all sorts of ways they can be fished effectively.

It doesn't hurt to have some single Colorado, some Tandem willow/Colorado and some Willow/Willow and some heavy ones and some really light ones.

IMO, it's more about understanding that they may be on a spinnerbait bite but they are only going  to hit a 1/4 oz white chartreuse single gold Colorado right under the surface....you can't figure this out til you commit to the technique and start learning the nuance of the different types and why you might choose to throw one over the others.

I see you are from Columbia , Maryland which I am familiar with. I would say overall for the state a double willow nickel bladed white bait works best. You can message me on the specific places you are fishing and I might be able to provide better recommendations? Overall in the State of Maryland nickel blades and white skirts work best.

Walmart, $1.00, get an array of colors, and blades. They have buzz baits too. At $1.00 I don’t cry too bad if I lose one. I tweak some of them, change, or add beads, blades, I bought a few extra for parts.

I think they are a decent, budget minded way to break into the spinner and buzz bait part of fishing.

⬆️⬆️ Although my favorite color is the peanut butter and jelly for $1.00 I buy every color they have 😉IMG_1313.jpeg.b6ba40498f616f8e5d52798bb8c32053.jpegIMG_1312.jpeg.f17b9575e72fa4f0584eae9ef72387b5.jpeg

Agreed. 75% of my spinnerbaits are Booyah of some flavor. I've had most luck with double willow but try a few blade and blade color combos and see what works best. I've caught quite a few 4 and 5lb bass along with pike, cats, gar and stripers and I'll typically get one hung up and cut before it gets beyond repair. Most times it just takes a little bend of the wire to get back running true. I personally throw it in thick heavy cover, places you would throw a jig and work it out. Have had a lot of success with them.

Down here a shad pattern color works best but I recall shad and white worked great in upstate NY as well.

Most spinnerbaits are under $10 and won’t break the bank. You’d be better off doing a search looking for “spinnerbait”. You’ll find hours worth of reading and so many recommendations it will make your head hurt. Spinnerbaits are generally inexpensive and some are better than others according to how much confidence each individual has in a particular brand. You’ll figure it out.

I fish a few waters where panfish are the predominant baitfish for bass. I prefer a big Colorado blade retrieved slow & steady. Single or double usually produce but the Booyah Blade spinnerbaits have been what gets bit for me. Budget is relative as if you buy cheap, the components are also of lesser quality. I’m delving into a different brand this year in Greenfish Tackle High Class Blade double Colorados & Cumberland Tackle spinners for night fishing - huge single bladed Colorados. We’ll see if they get any big bites or not.
