I might be getting the new shimano chronarch 50 and wanted to know what you guys would use this reel for. Would it be a good reel for fishing with t-rigs, c-rigs, jigs, and frogs? I'm also trying to decide what rod to put this on so if you have any ideas that would be very helpful.

It is a great finesse real- I just ordered a scorpion 1001mg which is the japanesse model of the chronarch 51- not much line capacity but it's purpose built for light gear- you can use it however you want- I have a curado 101d that is the same size just heavier not magnesium and it was great on my mbr783 C if you don't know loomis language: its a 6'6 medium heavy fast action rod. hope this helps.

SneakySnook,

Use the 50 for anything you like!  It's a tough little reel (except the finish) and will handle just about anything you want to do with it, assuming it's got the line capacity for your purpose.  I'm using 3 of them at the moment, none on anything close to finesse.  Haven't had one flinch yet.   ;)

As for the rod try it on all of the rods you have, and see which one it feels best on.. If it were mine it would be on my favorite pitching stick 7' MHF spiral wrapped.

Tight Lines!!!

+1

I have 4 mg50's, and I've got one spooled with 8lb fluoro for finesse casting,  and also have two on my pitchin' sticks with 20lb fluoro.  They are extremely versatile.  They are dubbed finesse reels due to their ability to throw light weight baits, but this will benefit you no matter the weight of the bait you throw, and they have a powerful enough drag to use them for any technique.

I have two 50mgs also and I use one on a pitching stick with 17 lb mono. You can't go wrong heavy or light, they will serve you well. JMHO
