Does anyone know of a copolymer line that behaves similar to and/or has the same/similar properties to Yozuri Hybrid? I fish braid to leader and I love using Yozuri Hybrid as a leader line for moving style swimbaits and hardbaits. In my opinion, using a braid mainline along with Yozuri Hybrid as a leader gives me the best of both worlds.

I bought all of the Yozuri Hybrid line sizes so I could cover most or all of my bases. On the other hand, I have noticed that there is a big gap in line diameter from the 12lb to the 15lb. Per Tackle Warehouse, 12lb is listed at .338 and 15lb is listed at .405. There is a pretty big gap in there.

Therefore, I am looking for a copolymer and/or fluoro/mono hybrid that has similar characteristics to Yozuri Hybrid and that also offers some line diameters between .33 and .40 in order to give me more versatility and cover more baits and/or situations I might come across.

Problem is, Yo-Zuri is pretty unique...most hybrid lines are a nylon center with a FC coating, where-as Yo-Zuri actually embeds strands of FC within the nylon.

Never used Yo-zuri Hybrid.  Don't know the properties you are looking for but if you need excellent abrasion resistance, try Izorline Platinum.

The one and only McCoys Mean Green.  It is very strong and very manageable.  I was drop shotting in Canada last June.  We were on a rock bluff that came out 4' of water with a drop off into 8'-10'.  I had caught 3 nice 3-4 pound fish, but I had also lost a few baits to some nasty rocks.  Anyway, I retie and cast out my bait.  Just moving it real slow with very light shakes of the rod.  All of a sudden, boom, I thought my rod was going to get jerked out of my hand.  This fish took off and stripped almost all of my braided line.  After what seemed like a 15 minute fight (Med/Lt rod, 10 lb 832 braid, 8lb McCoys) I reeled in a 44" Pike.  Don't know how my line didn't break or my knot break.  I have used this line for many years with no break offs.  You can get it in clear blue or moss green.  Oh, made right here in the US.

I guess I could always just go with a cheaper/lower tier fluorocarbon that has a little more stretch than a mid to upper tier fluorocarbon. That should get me most of the way there, as far as 'matching' the characteristics/properties of Yozuri Hybrid.

Sunline Super Fluorocarbon and Seaguar Red Label are on my short list as potential lines to fill out the line diameter gap between 12lb and 15lb Yozuri Hybrid. I am thinking since these 2 are lower tier/cheaper fluorocarbon lines, they should 'behave' somewhat pretty close to Yozuri Hybrid, right? What do you guys think?

Another vote for McCoy. I'll also throw in Sunline Defier Armillo. Smaller diameter per pound test. It's mono but fluoro adjacent so copoly like...?

Three excellent choices: McCoys Mean Green, Maxima Ultragreen & Sufix Advance. Word of advice just buy the line by your desired line diameter & skip the line rating. Some manufactures over list the line strength category & others under list the line strength so there is no way to make a legit comparison between manufactures other than just stick to line diameter to compare.

I don't know much about how line is made or what it is made of but I have been using Kastking Tri-polomar and Kastking Destron lines they are both a copolymer. The Tri- Palomar doesn't float like mono. It is thinner if you look at it's rated lb test but I can say that it handles very well for me.

Another vote for McCoys. It handles and casts a lot better than Yozuri as well

*Yozuri Hybrid is large diameter line for it's stated pound test - you need to compare the YZH line diameter and match to McCoy , Gamma , etc. co-poly lines first before buying !  YZH line has the advantage of being locally available at Academy , Dicks , Bass Pro , etc. whereas Gamma and McCoy are pretty much on-line only considerations . FWIW , I use YZH in #12 lb. test on an all-purpose bait cast set up and am not afraid to throw any lure  anywhere with that set up ... YZH #12 lb. casts well and is very strong .

I've been using the Izorline XXX Super Co-Polymer for a few seasons and have been happy with it.

McCoy Mean Green has been my main line for years. I honestly have nothing bad to say about it other than availability. You rarely see it in stores and can go out of stock at periods online. I buy 3-4 bulk spools from tackle warehouse each winter.

GReb is exactly right about availability.  I buy bulk spools, so I never run out. McCoys is very good.

Does anyone know what the difference is between Izorline XXX and Izorline Platinum? Hopefully there is someone in here who has used both lines extensively and that has a lot of experience with both lines.

I decided to grab a 12lb Izorline XXX and a 12lb Izorline Platinum to try out and compare against each other. I am not able to get out on the water just yet but my initial first impressions are...

_ Izorline XXX

  • Feels a little softer/suppler over the Platinum but not by much (might be splitting hairs here).
  • Less slick.
  • Looks and feels more uniform in diameter. Therefore lays more evenly on the spool.
  • Ties really good knots.
  • Looks to have less memory over Platinum.
  • More stretch than the Platinum, but not by much (might be splitting hairs here).

_ Izorline Platinum

  • Feels a bit stiffer/harder over the XXX but not by much (might be splitting hairs here).
  • More slick.
  • Looks and feels less uniform in diameter (some spots look thin and some spots look thick). Therefore does not lay evenly on the spool.
  • Ties good knots.
  • Looks to have more memory over XXX.
  • Less stretch than the XXX but not by much (might be splitting hairs here).

Honestly, If you blindfolded me and told me to compare the two without telling me that they were different models/variants, I would honestly tell you that they are the same exact line. That's how close both lines look and feel from my initial impression. They are neck and neck. I don't know which to choose since they are so close.

If I was to buy more spools, I would probably go with Platinum in the lower lb tests like 10 and 12, than get the XXX in the higher lb tests like 15 and 20. That way, I can somewhat mitigate some of the shortcomings of both lines while still trying to achieve a best of both worlds scenario and still get some or all of the best characteristics from both lines.

Does anyone have the same experience and/or initial first impression/opinion when trying out both lines?

All comes down to personal preference. I like the Advantage and Mean green also.

I've used the XXX and it's some tough stuff , It will catch fish.

It's not like upper tier flouro. If you don't like it just strip it off and try something else until you find what works for you.

My exact experience. I bought a 600yrd spool last year of 12# YZH thinking it was 15lb. When I discovered my mistake I was spooling up two baitcasters and  for my sons to use night before we were to leave on a vacation that had them spending two days at Cedar Point AP while I fished and four days of us fishing together. Was absolutely satisfied with the 12# YZH in every way possible. Was going to try some higher end fluorocarbon this year but I have been so absolutely satisfied with YZH I am sticking with it for all of my non-braided fishing line uses. Stuff is amazingly strong and abrasion resistant and cast very very well and it is VERY affordable and in my opinion Yo-Zuri hybrid is THE BEST bargain in fishing line there is. A 600yrd spool of 8-15lb line is $10. Been using 8 and 10lb YZH for all my spinning applications for over four years and 15lb for my baitcasters for four years and now 12# and I can not say a single bad word about Yo-Zuri hybrid it is my new favorite go to non braided line.
