hey guys my local gander mountain has a sale on the quantum accurist cx baitcasting reels for 59.99 is this a good buy for this price.Ive never owned this reel but need another reel for my new med/hvy rod Ive heard some good things about this reel but would like to hear from users of this reel. thanks

I've seen the CX reels on sale at Walmart for that price.

If it is the old gold colored reel (I owned 10 of them in left hand). They are a discontinued reel. If it is one of the new colored reels (red, blue, new gold), it's MSRP is around the $80 mark and you have gotten a deal.

thanks for your replies guys hey reel mech it is the newer gold one I should have asked you first on these reels I know you use them. So how do they hold up I fish 3-5times a week so my reels get some use. thanks again and happy holidays to all.

The Accurist have gone through some changes. They had a problem with IAR's for awhile, but they took care of that issue when they discontinued them for the newer 04-05 versions. As for holding up to 5 day a week fishing they should, but your going to have to take time to keep them full serviced at least twice a season.

Thanks fo your reply reel mech Thats all I need to know I think Ill pick up two Of these reels for that price 59.99 is hard to beat Im a daiwa man but Im willing to try these out Ive heard good things so far about quantum reels. Which reminds me I need to get my two daiwaprocasters serviced. Thanks again

I think you will really like this reel.  I have the cx500pt and that thing is one smooth reel.  The only problem I have is that it seems to sit a little high in the reel seat for me (I like to palm my reels).  Other than that I really have no complaints with these.
