What are these hooks for??

I received these hooks in a Lucky Tackle Box, and I can’t figure out what they could be used for. If I screw them into a soft bait, I’m sure they would tear out with any sort of pressure from a fish. They seem unnecessarily complicated and weak to use as a trailer hook, but maybe?

Is there even an eye for a line tie?  It doesn't look like it.  If there is, then it looks like an unnecessarily complicated way to make a texas rig.

I'm going with 'theme' ear rings

or a gift for your least favorite basshead.

Cheap garbage filler for Lucky tackle box to inflate the worth of their box and include it as an item?

You are way off base. This is a LTB EXCLUSIVE. Calling it a cheap garbage filler is just mean. Eagle Lures is a well known player in the USDM fishing industry, jeez.

LTB (and MTB) used to put fancy cards in the box with all kinds of information about everything in there.

Aside.... I sort of miss the LTB vs MTB battles... though I'd wager that Glenn doesn't

What else came in the box? That may indicate what they are for

I did receive some 3/4oz swimbait jigheads. You’ve got me thinking that maybe they are meant to be threaded through the plastic and onto the shank and used as a trailer hook.

Yeah, no line tie.

That looks like something AI would create, if AI ran a fishing lure business.

You could be right.  I uploaded the picture of the hooks to ChatGPT and ask it what they are used for.  This is the response.

The hooks in the image you've provided are designed for a specific type of fishing where the eye of the hook is not needed. These could be intended for use with certain types of lure systems where the line is attached directly to the lure or through a different mechanism that connects to these hooks. Some fishing setups use a snap or swivel that attaches to a small hole or a slot in the hook itself, rather than using a traditional knotted line around an eye. Another possibility is that these hooks are designed to be snelled directly to the fishing line, which involves a series of knots that secure the line to the hook shank.

Using a snell knot would kind of make sense… maybe? 🤷‍♂️

a snell is about the only way I could see these rigged. Snell the hook, thread the plastic on, screw in place, and Texas rig. Still an inelegant solution to a problem that doesn’t exist

I know exactly what these hooks are used for; absolutely nothing.

We really shouldn't mock the LTB, MTB and Monster Bass boxes. I imagine they got a lot of kids interested in fishing and also got people to try new lures they otherwise never would have tried.

I always thought the concept was cool but I have more than enough lures to keep me busy.

My 1st impression was to tie it with a snell knot and add a roe bag to salmon and steelhead

Looking at it I think it is so you can snell the hook and then feed a soft plastic up the hook and twist it on the keeper so there is no knot in front of the hook to snag on things. Totally unnecessary if that's the case.

I got the LTB subscription as a gift, and my impression so far is that it’s more like a challenge to catch fish on certain lures than actual value for the money.

Looks like a trailer hook?

Instead of a trailer hook with eye and plastic, this just spins onto the other hook.

Those hooks are for screwing up the butt of a wooden frog bait you have to carve yourself.
