fishinurse Posted December 11, 2006 Posted December 11, 2006 Sorry this message is so long but I need some pro help. My husband just started fishing last year and has 2 spinning combos and wants to get a baitcaster combo that will benifit him the most with what he already has. He wants something that gives him accuracy, good sensivity and the most all around use. We live in florida and he fishes from the shore. he fishes once a week and says he doesn't want 8 different combos, just a few decent ones. he has a shimano sahara/uglystick intercoastal 6'6" med action 6-12 which he uses all his lures( mainly topwater and a few shallow runners and a jerkbait) with and a quantum catalyist/redbone 7ft med 8-17 that is rigged for worm fishing, he says it heavier setup and better sensitivity than the uglystick. He was thinking of keeping the other combos rigged the same way and adding another combo for lures, topwaters and shallow runners. Rod consideration is allstar american classic or team allstar or a shimano compre with a 6-7ft length 10-20 line and med fast action and for reel was between a quantum energy or tour pt editon and a shimano curado. I am spending a max of $110 on xmas and what rod would be best for his application. He will purchase a reel later and needs quidance one which one would be best. Should he rearrange his combos to get better use and is this a good rod choice or is there better in this price range. What specs should i get as far a length and so one. Which reel should he purchase. Thanks for your time Quote
Banor Posted December 11, 2006 Posted December 11, 2006 When did my wife miss the fishing lingo class during her nursing courses? If you could just tell me which part of the program teaches nurses how to talk the talk so that I can pass it on to my nurse/wife I would greatly appreciate it. B Quote

scbassin Posted December 12, 2006 Posted December 12, 2006 If he already likes the Redbone rod get a redbone casting rod. If you want something different go with the Shimano Compre. They are both very good rods in that price range. If you choose the Redbone get a med. light & in the Compre a med. Either one of those rods will do the trick. Quote
