Must be coming this summer...seeing clearance GLX's everywhere. They must be keeping this new model top secret...can't find anything on it

From a local shop, they said yes there going to release a new one. D&R sports center in Kalamazoo. 40% off all glx rods.

I'm really curious what the new generation will look like and how they'll price it. Only GLX I own is the 842c and it's one of my favorites to throw. Performance isn't too far off from the NRX's.

I ran into a deal in my travels this weekend where I found a few GLX's that were buy one get one free. I thought hard about it and passed. I did go over them with a fine tooth comb and there were some things about this generation I just didn't like or felt off to me, at least compared to the older versions and these things are minor.

First off was the grip on the spinning rods. I like the reel seat on the NRX+ and the full cork on the GLX just felt like I had less contact with the blank (just a personal preference).  Next was the butt section. It feels off to me. I just can't explain it until someone loads up the rod. Finally, the trigger on the grips feels almost curved too far.  Oddly, I don't get that feeling with the IMX-Pro Crankbait rods I have.  I believe it is the same.

Sale isn't reflected on their website. Must just be in-store.

Update,.... The bait monkey was whispering in my ear this morning and cohersed me into ordering a GLX 853c JWR on closeout this morning from ALF.

I'm not a big Loomis guy, but I have an IMX Pro 854C JWR I picked up last year and have always wanted to try a GLX.

Figured the 853c would make a nice worm rod. I currently have my worm rigs on a Kistler Zbone and a pair of Helium rods, but the Zbone is a clean MH MF I picked up used and might make a really nice swim jig rod or something.

Yeah, it's weird because their home page says GLX $299, but if you look close, it says "as low as".

The shorter casting rods like a 782c MBR and 783 MBR are around that, but the longer rods are at higher prices. The 853c I got was $326. Still quite a bit cheaper than regular retail, so I said "What the hell,... Likely won't see much cheaper than that".

That $299 is for the 721 & 722 SJR's.  Those are what I'm looking at...just don't have extra $ at the moment.

I LOVE glx mbr series, but unless they chang the reel seat, I won't be getting the new ones.

While y'all were fussing about the glx sales, I quietly grabbed a Legend Elite for $267 to-my-door.

Yes I would assume it only applies to in store purchases unfortunately sorry about that. I was talking to one of the salesman and he let me know, he didn’t say anything about online. Believe me at this price I was tempted but I had my eyes set on a heavy cover setup. I was looking for a NRX+ 895 JWR. I have always wanted to try one since I owned a glx 894 and just wanted a little bit more power.

Yea...the casting rod reel seat didn't work for me either...really disappointed me at the time.  I bet we see a new seat...probably nrx style.

people have long complained about the GLX reel seats, they are not an off the shelf item they are custom done for the GLX and a lot of people don't like them. TW is full of complains about them.

I believe the IMX Pro has a standard Fuji reel seat (which I love) but Loomis feels the need to 'go custom' on their higher up models and I honestly don't think thats a good thing.

Give me Fuji guides and a Fuji reel seat all day long.

I’ve read some people don’t like the reel seat. I find them amazing comfortable and easy to fish all day. My favorite rods. 842,843,844,852,853

I got my GLX in the mail yesterday. Mounted a reel on it and like the feel of it.

While I'm curious to see the new GLX line when it comes out, I typically don't spend that much on rods. All my upper level rods (Legend X/Extreme, Zbone, Helium, Champion Extreme) have all come used or on serious discount, so I won't likely be buying the new version any time soon.

I do like seeing the new options though!

I've heard some reels work great and others don't. I want to buy a casting model but that has always been on the back of my mind with this series. The spinners are incredible. 842S is awesome.

Well,... Nothing I guess!

I was just at their open house and they had signs up saying "All GLX $299", the went on their site and initially saw the same thing and took a minute to realize the fine print said "as low as" on the site since it hadn't said that at the open house.

Could’ve just been in-person at their open house all were $299. Online-only pricing might be slightly different?
