Hello all from Eastern WV. I mainly fish the upper Potomac for smallmouth bass but hit some of the Chesapeake bay tributaries a couple times a year.  Plan to try out Raystowne Lake , Cheat lake and youghihaney reservoir this year too.  I'm retired military but spend a lot of time on the family farm in western MD.

Welcome aboard! I love West Virginia. Beautiful state.  I love fishing stonewall Jackson for musky and when I raced motocross I was down there often at tomahawk. One of these days I’m going to get down there in the Potomac in my boat.

I can almost hear the track from my house.

Hello!  Lived in north-central WV for twenty some years now and am always glad to see another West Virginian on the site.

I’m about 2 hours and 15 minutes from it. Right down 81.  I had to quit due to an injury about 7 years ago.

Youghiogheny Lake you want to fish in like May? They draw down the lake starting around then. I have fished there 4 times in May or June. Water level dropped about 10' in two weeks last time I fished it.

You ever fish Sleepy Creek? The road there sucks big time but that place held the WV state record LM for many years. There is an open tournament there Memorial day weekend that I usually fish. Haven't caught any big fish there yet just a bunch of 1-3lb fish. Great place to fish a frog in the summer though.

I live close enough to hear the shotgun range at sleepy creek.   I won't take the new boat up there because of the roads but I still walk around it sometimes. Good crappie fishing and lots of bass but like you nothing over 3lbs. The grass and Lilly pads geat really thick in summer .

Welcome! I'm near you and there are a lot of great places to fish. The Shenandoah/Potomac is having an unreal year with bigger smallmouth!
