Susky River Rat Posted February 15, 2024 Posted February 15, 2024 Life has been getting in the way of this post. It’s finally calming down. The river was running about 5.2 and clear. Overcast with a high of almost 60. I was unsure where the fish would be since it was a drop from a major sustained level. I went to a normal wintering hole. Nothing was producing. Neds, jerks with long pauses, tubes and cranking. I went over to another area near by and caught 3 about 1.5 pound smallies on ned rigs. This was right on a current seam being pushed into a steeper/ deeper rock bank. I fished this area a little longer than went on the search. I ended up going into a rocky creek in 2-4 fow and lost one crank baiting fairly aggressively. The smallies were very very sluggish. Even the one that hit the crank I thought I just picked up leafs as I was reeling in. all in all I had a great trip out and caught my first fish of 2024. Now we currently have snow on the ground and I may not be out till March. I was hoping to do the catch a fish every month challenge but, missed January do to unsafe ice and weather. My previous trip fishing I was skunked. I also was fishing a lake. 7 Quote
