Life has been getting in the way of this post. It’s finally calming down.

The river was running about 5.2 and clear. Overcast with a high of almost 60. I was unsure where the fish would be since it was a drop from a major sustained level. I went to a normal wintering hole. Nothing was producing. Neds, jerks with long pauses, tubes and cranking. I went over to another area near by and caught 3 about 1.5 pound smallies on ned rigs. This was right on a current seam being pushed into a steeper/ deeper rock bank. I fished this area a little longer than went on the search.  I ended up going into a rocky creek in 2-4 fow and lost one crank baiting fairly aggressively. The smallies were very very sluggish. Even the one that hit the crank I thought I just picked up leafs as I was reeling in.

all in all I had a great trip out and caught my first fish of 2024. Now we currently have snow on the ground and I may not be out till March. I was hoping to do the catch a fish every month challenge but, missed January do to unsafe ice and weather.

My previous trip fishing I was skunked. I also was fishing a lake.
