Larry Lunker Posted February 15, 2024 Posted February 15, 2024 Could someone please explain the differences in action between the Expride B and Poison Adrena 6’10 M models? I wonder this because no one talks about the Adrena model as being a great jerkbait rod when it has nearly identical specs listed (regular fast vs moderate fast) as the Expride, which is supposedly the best jerkbait rod ever accordingly to YouTube. Is the regular fast in adrena vs. moderate fast in Expride difference in action a big reason why so many go for the Expride? I see the Adrena model in stock at places where the Expride model is on backorder, so I’m curious as to why that is when the specs are so similar and it’s a step up in price. You’d almost think it’d be the opposite in today’s crazy market for high end stuff. Although, is the Adrena not considered high end enough? At too mid of a price point where people with the budget start to gravitate toward something like the megabass oneten special while the rest grab the Expride to save a little dough? If you can’t tell, I’m in the market for a jerkbait rod and been on a bit of bougie streak but don’t own an Adrena so would be nice to try one out yet might be convinced to pull the trigger on a Oneten special. Can someone help a brother out? Quote
JN94 Posted February 15, 2024 Posted February 15, 2024 I can't answer your question specifically, but I own the 6'10 PA and it is prob my favorite rod I own, or at least top 2. Someone once told me that the Adrenas used the MBR taper from Loomis, not sure if that's true or not. I'd still call the Adrena a fast action but maybe on the slower end of fast. I use it for a lot of things - topwaters, paddletails, minimax chatterbait, light t-rigs/jigs. I pretty much never throw jerkbaits so I can't speak to those specifically but I do love the rod. It is insanely light 2 Quote
softwateronly Posted February 15, 2024 Posted February 15, 2024 I fish heavier jerk baits, nishine darter, 130mm rerange, etc on the PA 6'11M+ and I love it. I'm interested in people's opinions on the PA 6'10M too. scott 1 Quote

The Adrena is my favorite, tho they're all great rods. And that Adrena is more versatile than the other 2 as well. 2 Quote
FrnkNsteen Posted February 15, 2024 Posted February 15, 2024 I will give an alternate perspective,.... I can see the benefit of stepping up to higher quality (and price) offerings on bottom contact rods where sensitivity is a gain, though I DO believe the law of diminishing returns kicks in pretty quickly. For instance, I have Jigs and Texas Rigs set up on rods ranging from Zodius to Kistler Helium and Z Bone (with the NFC blanks) to Loomis IMX Pro and St Croix Legend X, Elite, and Extreme. All are very light, balanced and sensitive,..... But I don't see HUGE differences between the $200 Zodias and up thru the $400+ legends in performance. There may be differences, but they aren't drastic enough to REALLY justify the price differences. I mean the Legend Extreme isn't 3 times nicer than the Zodias! When it comes to moving and reaction baits though.... That sensitivity becomes less of an issue to me. I want a light, balanced rod that does what it needs to do. I've got moving bait rods ranging from Dobyns Fury 705cb to various kinds and brands ranging from Dobyns, Daiwa, St Croix Mojo, to smaller companies like Doomsday Tackle, Bird Dog and Academy Ethos. In regards to the jerkbait rod question from the OP... No way I would spend the $350 x $400 for the PA when lower level stuff like the Expride, Zodias, or others work just fine. If certain models of Exprides are flying off the shelves and the Adrenas are sitting on them,.... The market has spoken! For the record,.... I am using a Kistler Jerkbait Special, A 6'9" Bird Dog Rod, and a 6'6" Academy Ethos HD rod for jerkbaits at the moment. I like the ($79) Academy Ethos! It works great with it's short butt handle and short length, it doesn't hit me in the stomach or slap the water,.., Not sure on the $180 Bird Dog yet, and just got the Kistler used at the ALF open house last weekend ($106). Love the feel of it! Looking forward to trying it out as soon as possible. Just my experience and opinion! 2 Quote
