If this post is not allowed, I apologize. The Chiefs won the Super Bowl. It's fantastic for Chiefs fans. Today, there was a HUGE parade in downtown Kansas City.                And, at the end of the program, there was a shooting. So far, ten to fifteen people were shot. Three were shot critically, and one person has passed away.                                                 This was a horrible, cowardly, and sickening thing to do. Please try to remember the victims in prayers.                                             Now, I don't even care who won the Super Bowl. I don't want to hear about these things anymore.

I share your sentiments wholeheartedly.

I cannot fathom this post would be disallowed.  There's no politics, no agenda, just compassion.  If we cannot share that honestly, then we cease to be a community tied together our shared love of angling.

I have a lot to say about what happened and about what keeps happening but I know it’s not allowed on here, so I won’t.

I’ll just say that Mrs Mike and I pray for the one killed and that we don’t hear about no one else

Mike

Failed security. There was over 800 officers present on site for an event like this and it still occurred. Even the incident commander herself said in a news conference that it was a failure of law enforcement (that she was in charge of) to keep people safe.

I agree that it’s a cowardly, rotten, shameful act to commit. I did hear that two people were arrested. Hopefully justice is served.

I appreciate the comments so far.  Please refrain from offering up solutions or hypothesis why this happened.  That will only lead to getting this shut down.

How can the police be responsable? they dont know how many dingbats are gonna be carrying a heater let alone identify them. The incident commander took the blame as any smart person would or else be burnt at the stake. This is just the way things are in the world today. Here is a good video of 2 regular folks tackling a suspect. Might have to copy and paste link.

Having gone to a Super Bowl Parade there is no way police can keep an event like that safe for spectators.  Sure they can for the players and team but for the patrons, a near impossible task.

They can be responsible when they admit it. Which they did.

My understanding is that is stemmed from an argument and was not terrorist related.

The problem is not gun violence, as some would like us to believe. Gun violence does not exist.

"In other important news of the day from the super bowl parade"

Elijah Smith, an 8th grader from Dallas and a mega Chiefs fan, gave Kelce the mask after the pair took a picture together, according to NBC.

But in the confusion of the team’s win, he never got it back.

“I gave him my mask and then he dropped it and then picked it back up,” Smith told the outlet Thursday.

“Then I got a picture with him wearing it and then I just hung out next to them for five to ten minutes, they were dancing and everything.”

Smith and his friends lost sight of Kelce in the crowd after the picture, and he never got his mask back.

“I saw videos on Instagram this week of him wearing it at the next afterparty he went to, so he clearly never took it off the whole night,” Smith said.

Smith and his parents, Thad and Sarah, say they need their good luck charm returned before the start of next season.

The family knows that the mask belongs to their son because of one distinct detail: a massive autograph from Chiefs player Trent McDuffie from last year’s Super Bowl afterparty is on the side.
