I stumbled on this guy with a comparison video on the new Berkley Nessie. This second video by the same person, was very well done and I learned some things from it, especially since I bought my first Mag Draft to try this year. Hope this is allowed, I don’t know this person, just found it helpful.

I hope so too. I'd like to see more videos like this. I don't watch a lot of videos, but I love videos like this that compare how well different baits swim, do it very well and get right to the point without a lot of talking.

For me learning that these baits all have a limited speed range that they can used with was eye opening. Otherwise I would have thought I had a defective bait and pitched it in the don't use again pile.

Looks like I'll be trying the dangerous swimbait this spring!  Thanks for that super helpful comparison!

I like that I can get two unrigged and put them on a beast hook and fish them weedless at lots of speeds.

I almost bought the mag draft many times but the belly treble kept me away. Not a fan of that design.  I fish very shallow and snaggy.

I do as well. So, I fish the Magdraft Freestyle.

Seems like it is more restricted in terms of retrieve speed.  I appreciate that they make a free style model though!

Maybe this year megabass will update their formula and try to come up with some innovation!

Berkley keeps getting way too much credit for ripping companies off. It's a shame really.

I sort of get the bass mafia one because Zaldain wanted the magdraft improved and Megabass wouldn't budge.

The original bait in this style is the Magdraft in the Freestyle version.

Yeah I just wish it worked a little slower and faster.  I appreciate that Chris wouldn't take no for an answer and made it happen elsewhere.  I am just not much of a brand loyalist and megabass didn't invent soft swimbaits and the inventors (whoever they are) were just copying big baitfish so it's not that original of an idea!  😂😂😂

Megabass may have made a soft swimbait before some of their competitors but currently they need to update the mag draft to get with the trends and stay competitive.

Fish have seen a lot of that 'magdraft sweet spot speed' and it really opens things up a lot to be able to go slower and faster because depth and speed of retrieve are pretty much everything when it comes to getting bit around here.

I'm definitely not interested in the cullshad or the Hangover.  Those sound pretty not fun to fish.

The SPRO sounded interesting enough to me, to add it to the list to potentially buy. The hook magnet was a bit weird though, but it sounded like a decent bait.

Basstrix invented the Hollow body, Worm King the paddle tail and Huddleston the soft boot tail and 3:16 Mission Fish the 1st line through to the best of my memory.

Tom

PS, Megabaits LA Slider had a removable internal jig weight that was unique.

Mickey from 3:16 recently had a video that is on his Instagram about the mission fish and the history of these baits. All because Milliken had to rip him in one of his videos.

If you are going to buy a hangover, get the fast sink. It's got the widest speed range.

Looks like the zaldain bait might replace the magdraft for me this year. Definitely worth trying out. I would love to be able to retrieve at different speeds.
