St. Croix MOJO Bass 7'4 Heavy opinions/reviews?

This would be my first St. Croix rod. Replacing my (new by the way) Lew's TP1B 7'4 Heavy because it weighs five tons and came in the mail with a crack on the handle which has grown after use.                      How is the cork? Anyone like/dislike it? Does it hold up?          How does it compare to rods of similar price? Dobyn's Fury, Shimano Intenza, Daiwa Tatula Bass, etc.       How are the guides? I usually use Microguide type rods and notice these to be a bit larger? Any complaints about that or guide durability? Guide durability is one of the reasons I ditched Lew's, so that matters. American Tackle and Fuji have done me well so far, so I assume this is good.

I have that model in the bass-x and my fishing partner has the mojo bass version. The durability is about what you expect for that price point.  They are great for smaller frogs, and dragging a big worm in the summer. I can tell you they both stay in the rack at the house most days. My buddy much prefers his Dobyn's 736 for frogs, or 744 for heavy texas rigs and some jigs. I prefer my Shimano's 7'3" XH for frogs, and 7'2" heavy for texas rigs and jigs. I would say if your looking to spend mid to upper $100 I would look at the Dobyn's Sierra line up, great blanks and $50 no questions asked warranty.

[Mojo Bass]

I have the 7’4 Heavy Fast Mojo Bass (not the trigon handle model although I would like one of those) and I’ve caught a lot of smallmouth on it up in Canada…… I’ve used the rod for quite a few applications…. I’ve frog fished in heavy cover all the way to throwing 4inch unweighted yum dingers around heavy cover and it launches them btw…. (Those type of deals on braid) I’ve also thrown moving baits paddle tails on jig heads and spinnerbaits……(on fluorocarbon)….. The tip of the rod is pretty soft for a heavy and  actually loads up a decent way into the blank it’s quite nice…. It is not a “light” rod….. walking or popping frogs is fine but it’s no featherweight…. Overall I like the rod and think it’s quite versatile…. I do not have any plans to replace it

I can’t compare it to those other rods you listed but I will take this opportunity to insert a big striper photo that I caught with the mojo bass rod ! I like it so far, casts a mile. The cork and guides have held up fine so far and I treat stuff poorly. Kids are always tap dancing on all my rods

Rage version is comparable and an excellent heavy action rod.     Capable of anything but what you might need an XH to do.

I use one for a frog rod. I love it. Launches frogs and I seem to have a higher landing percentage with it compared to other rods I've used.
