Need help in choosing a 1000 size spinning reel

Guys, I'm sure this horse has been beat to death, but what spinning reel (either Daiwa or Shimano) in the $ 80-130.00 range do you recommend?  I'm torn between the Sahara, Fuego, Legalis and Miravel.  The reel would be going on a SC 64LF Panfish series rod.  Of the four reels mentioned what would you get?  The combo would be used primarily for crappie and bluegill.  Thanks in advance, Randy.

I've got a Miravel 1000 and an Ultegra 1000 - both purchased from Digitaka for well under your price limit.

 

Personally, I like the Miravel more than the Ultegra.

That SC rod is on my list of rods to get. The reel I'm planning for is the new 23 Legalis. I don't think it's out in the US yet but you can get it on digitaka. They upgraded the new Legalis with a screw in handle and 10 grams lighter rotor. I_fish on YouTube already has videos on it and a how to video for upgrading the line guide bearing. If you don't want to order a JDM reel the 23 exceler and Fuego are already out in the US.

I have 2 of those same rod models and got 1000 Nascis on them just another option.  I have a 2500 Miravel also that I like on my jerkbait rod.  You can't go wrong with either Miravel is lighter and both are smooth.

Although im not brand loyal and finally bought a Shimano spinning reel (Stradic 1000) I’m going to agree with something @MN Fisher is not mentioning but has in the past. That’s line capacity which I find way too high for 1000 size Daiwa reels unless you go JDM. If you’re not opposed to an Amazon/Chinese reel which I respect anyone who is I can’t recommend the Piscifun Carbon X or Carbon X 2 enough. They are $59.00 or $69.00 and are as well built and as smooth as the Daiwa Fuego or Daiwa Legalis LT I handled prior to purchasing the Stradic and have stayed that way for more than a few years.

Ya - if the Daiwa model you're looking at has a 'D' in the model number (Fuego LT 1000D) that's a deep spool. Have to go JDM to get the standard or shallow spool Daiwa reels - they seem to think everyone over here wants a million miles of line on their reel so that's all they provide retailers here with.

I have been happy with my Legalis. 6.6 oz when spooled with 4 lbs. mono and doesn't seem to hold an excessive amount of line. Love the aesthetics of the reel (has paired well with my SC Avid Panfish) and how smooth the retrieve has been.

Seems like a no-brainer to add $20 to the ante and get a JDM Stradic from Digitaka.

I have a little Shimano 1000 Sahara on my ultralight set up and its been perfect. Not a single complaint.

TW has the Stradic on sale for $135 right now. It’s a fantastic reel in that size. It was too light for what I wanted so I returned mine for a 3k size but for what you’re describing that’s where I’d go. If I was still trout fishing and didn’t have a 20 year old one that is like new that’s what I’d get.

I fish with the Shimano Sieanna 1000. Little Tank. No problems. Put my savings into my money market/savings account to draw some interest.

How'd you do that?  Everyone else's money market accounts lost money for four years.  

These appreciated in value.  

  

and in a way, were paid for by these, which doubled their value over four years, and were sold.  

  

There's also a pretty good argument that fishing a better reel for 12 years is cheaper than buying another inexpensive reel every 6 years.  (may not be as instantly gratifying as opening the second reel box)

Factor in what portion of the price goes into the box, marketing, shipping, 20-something-overhead - a better reel is getting more for your money.  

Of course in 100 years, the box will be worth more than the reel (true for everything).
