Smirak Posted February 5, 2024 Posted February 5, 2024 Wondering if anyone here kayak fishes Dale hollow. My daughter lives fairly close and I want to make it there this year. Also center hill lake and candy fork river. Quote
Chris Catignani Posted February 5, 2024 Posted February 5, 2024 The Caney Fork river (below Center Hill) is more of a trout river...cold water coming out of the bottom of Center Hill. You cant go wrong with Center Hill or Dale Hollow. Quote
Smirak Posted February 5, 2024 Author Posted February 5, 2024 I heard that about the river (trout). I want to get on some smallmouth. I’ve never caught one and am itching to do so. 1 Quote
Global Moderator TnRiver46 Posted February 6, 2024 Global Moderator Posted February 6, 2024 When I went to dale hollow a couple years ago there were kayaks everywhere, I think it’s a good way to do it. The Caney fork is a NIGHTMARE if it’s warm outside, an outfitter will drop of literally hundreds of kayakers. I saw several fly fisherman wading and they got slammed into over and over by kayaks Quote

I’m assuming the TnRiver stands for the TN River, which leads me to the Knoxville/Chattanooga area? East side? I’m much closer to Chattanooga than Dale Hollow. Wife works in Knoxville some, so I’m going to try some places there next time she has to travel… Quote
Global Moderator TnRiver46 Posted February 6, 2024 Global Moderator Posted February 6, 2024 I live right across the water from downtown Knoxville but I’ve been known to fish anywhere Quote
Super User Tennessee Boy Posted February 6, 2024 Super User Posted February 6, 2024 There’s plenty of good smallmouth water in north Alabama. Elk River Wilson Lake PICKWICK Lake Quote

Bazoo Posted February 7, 2024 Posted February 7, 2024 Dale Hollow is on my list of places to go, though I've not been there yet. Course, it's legendary as the home of the World Record Smallie! Quote
Global Moderator TnRiver46 Posted February 12, 2024 Global Moderator Posted February 12, 2024 Dale hollow is also full of big LM Quote
Smirak Posted February 12, 2024 Author Posted February 12, 2024 Any ideas of best places there to fish? Quote
Global Moderator TnRiver46 Posted February 12, 2024 Global Moderator Posted February 12, 2024 The whole lake is good. They had an MLF tourney out of sunset when I was there and I saw a lot of boats at the dam, that’s pretty much the entire thing . There was an 8.2 LM weighed in that one 1 Quote

It was color coded and marked up with banks that were good for spring, summer, fall and winter. I'm telling ya...the whole dang lake was marked. 2 Quote

When you do go, make sure its not a summer weekend. The lake is crowded with jet skis and wake boats. It is also full of big crappie and sunfish. There are monster shellcrackers to be had in the spring. 1 Quote
