The over night low at my house on Sunday night/Monday morning was 65 degrees.

The average daily high this time of year is supposed to be 58 degrees.

So the low was higher than the normal high.  Something's out of whack here.

Got out for a few hours today. West metro water temps were 55F. Didn't seem like the fish were schooling up yet. Caught em everywhere on everything except for the flatside. The pike loved that one.

Got out for a few hours today with a buddy from Iowa. South metro.

50F water temp was a nice surprise. Was expecting mid 40s after the rain.

Caught em on the jerkbait, jig minnow and jig. Probably 15 fish in the boat including four 4#ers.

Probably the last day out today - caught a very healthy/aggressive/4 times jumping out of the water 17.5 inch smallie (Megabass BFS Griffon/Baby Bass) and an 18 inch plus smallie (Megabass Griffon/Gillko) here on Lake Minnewaska.....will try and post pics soon....temps are supposed to drop hard (rain/wind/sleet on the way) so will look to winterize the boat on Sunday or sometime this week.....would love to keep the boat active but temps are dropping and there were actually small chunks of ice floating around on the lake today....

Out yesterday west of the metro. Ramp docks were pulled out of the lake. 47F water temp. Fish were aggressive but I couldn't get any big girls. Caught most fish on jerkbaits.

Probably the end of the bassin season for me. Lots to do around the property before snow flies.

I think we can close the book on this thread. I saw skim ice on the ponds by me this morning and it was 17 degrees. Colder temps are forecasted in the near future too. Should make the ice guys happy at least.

I’ll start a new 2025 thread in January sometime.

For me, ya - but they're still fishing the shore of Black Lake as of yesterday.

I think that will end very soon if it hasn’t already given we’re looking at single digits lows in the coming days.

I think the real question is when the first bonehead ventures out onto 3 inches of unsafe, inconsistent ice? It’s only a matter of time.

I'll keep an eye out - Black and Emerald are the two that get the 'early birds'.

I saw 3 kids went through on a lake in Woodbury yesterday too now.

This sort of thing was inevitable.  People think every lake has safe ice because of a few days of cold weather.  Use your brains people

I fished the Mississippi River today for about 3 hours.  2024 bass fishing is not over yet!

Probably my best day of 24!

Hopefully those fours turn into fives for 25.

Hit the Mississippi today and caught a few little smallmouth.  I think that will be my last trip of 2024.
