That is what it feels like!!!   Literally crazy.  If you find the DNR report you can see just how insane it is.

A-Jay how do you tie the leader material you are using?  I ordered some of the Knot 2 Kinky material yesterday.  I might get some of the material you talked about above to see which one I like best, and see which one, if either, has much of an effect on the baits.  Oh, I use 110's but my favorite is the Flap Slap.  Not sure why, but one lake in particular in Canada, the smallies are just all over them, as well as the Pike!  Thanks again for all the info.  One month closer . . . to being on my way to that 7lber hiding in the lake!!

To help combat the weight/sinking issue, not sure if you guys saw the kid that was gluing a piece of a foam cup to the top of his MB 110 in a recent tournament and finished second doing it? Tournament in Florida so he upgraded to bigger, heavier hooks that made the bait sink. So to combat it, he glued a piece of a Chick-fil-A cup to the top of his baits and it made it suspend again.

I had the same problem, losing Vision 110s and Jackhammers to pike.  I bought some titanium leader material use a 9-10" piece as leader material.  I put a weight stop on the main line to protect the rod tip from the connection knot, just in case.

Worked like a charm, I didn't lose a single jerkbait or chatterbait to pike last year and caught several.  It's a bit of pain to tie the knots while fishing, I carry an extra pair of pliers to help tighten the knots.

I’m surprised you can tie titanium. The titanium Terminator spinner baits always broke on me when the wire was bent too far. Must be some kind of alloy. I’m a big fan of tieable wire for light leaders.

@A-Jay - thank you for posting a pic of the Surflon Micro Supreme (and your impressive brown bass !!) -- I just ordered a smaller spool (16 or so feet) to give it a try. Do you always order the camo color ? (and if so why ?) Thank you

Since I fish such light tackle, Bowfin are also problematic for me, particular on top water.

You're Welcome & Thanks.

Not sure what's available now, but when I first started ordering the AFW

the color options were black, camo and a 'silver'.

Tried the black and the camo.

Both worked but I had more confidence in the camo as it didn't seem to stick out as much in this clear water.

Either way, I've just stay with what works for me.

Good Luck.
