Quick Gammy G-Finesse Hook Question : I've read where guys indicate the Gammy G-Finesse is about one size larger than most EWG hooks . So if your use another brand / model 4/0 EWG hook , you would want to drop down to a 3/0 size Gammy G-Finesse hook  ... Is this correct ?

What I've found with EWG hooks is the ones that are offset have better hookup ratios.  But the ones that are inline come through dense vegetation better and can often get more strikes because you can fish them in more places.  So they both have a use for me and either one can catch more fish than the other.  It just depends on where I'm fishing.

As for brands, I'm not really brand loyal.  My only rule is no Eagle Claw.  I've been burnt by them too many times in the past to trust them ever again.  I usually just go to the store and pick them out based on what's in stock, the size of the gap, the wire diameter and price.  I typically either want a lot of gap or no gap, opting for one extreme or the other, rather than trying to find something that balances the two.

I've been using Gamakatsu EWG's since they were first introduced in 1992.  I was very impressed with them then, and still am today.  I've tried a few others in the past, but they weren't as effective as Gamakatsu.

short answer. Yes, they run longer than standard ewg.

@ChrisD46 Looks like the Owner Haymaker fits your description:

However, you might also consider taking needle nose pliers & slightly bending the hook point out, similar to what some anglers do with some hollow bodied frogs but that may result in more snagging of vegetation, etc.

Ditto.
I also use gammys ewg.

Fine, I'll make everyone mad, I use Eagle Claw Magworm EWG's.

Not everyone. I use the Jason Christie HP's from Walmart. Same basic hook.

The Lunker City texposer hooks are a little different. Probably my favorite hook of all time but I can't find them locally and I'm too lazy/forgetful to order any.

Most underrated hooks for sure.  Amazing hookup ratio on stickbaits 👍.  That hook pictured is differennt than mine.  Maybe that is a texposer 'ewg' and mine are standard.

Gammi G Finesse Hybrid is a great hook and I apply it to longer slender baits.  The EWG and Superline get the nod on most other baits except when flippin tubes.  There is a BKK model I can’t recall that is perfect for that application.

I just ordered some hooks from Japan to try.  I’ll wait to name them in case they are duds.
