KP Duty Posted January 28, 2024 Posted January 28, 2024 I hadn't ever really considered a DC reel. The reel weight and seemingly complicated braking system turned me off. However, this new DC 70's design and light weight (6.17oz) has my attention. Digitaka has it listed at $352, but no stock yet. https://fish.shimano.com/ja-JP/product/reel/baitlurecasting/a075f000045zv32qag.html Quote

jejenkyns Posted January 28, 2024 Posted January 28, 2024 I'm considering one, mainly because it is new and I'm about to pull the trigger on a metanium anyways. The truth is though, I've never really felt like I'd get anything from DC breaking... I'll probably stick with the vanilla met. 2 Quote

For me there is no better reel for pitching. Still I've got 4 or 5 DC reels of all ages and what I get from DC breaking is those last few yards of line in a long cast that run out flat on the spool with no problem. It really helps when the wind catches that jerkbait when it reaches it's destination. 2 Quote
Delaware Valley Tackle Posted January 29, 2024 Posted January 29, 2024 If I were to try a dc reel (I will eventually) it will be a long cast chuck n wind, onto the wind technique. 2 Quote

That's all I use my Curado DC for. If its windy and I plan on throwing a spinnerbait or a buzzbait the DC is my go to. It has also been good for throwing jerkbaits and hollow body cranks. It's not my first choice for everyday use though. 2 Quote
Penn Posted January 30, 2024 Posted January 30, 2024 I won't buy this one. The gear isn't strong enough for a DC reel. If I must choose a DC reel, my choice is SLX DC. Quote
T2DM Posted January 30, 2024 Posted January 30, 2024 This new Metanium DC should be using the same 'NEW & IMPROVED' aluminum gear set as the Shallow Edition, Anyone have any experience with the Metanium Shallow Edition?? I would definitely wait for some reviews to come out first before buying this new DC reel. Quote

scbassin Posted February 1, 2024 Posted February 1, 2024 I have several DC reels, They shine on windy days. They do come with a heavy price tag though for something that you might only use when the wind is up. I have a couple of the 21 Scorpion DC reels that gets the job done.Digitaka has a few in stock for $210 shipped.here is some info. Quote
