Super User casts_by_fly Posted January 26, 2024 Super User Posted January 26, 2024 Hi all, I’m flying tomorrow and back Sunday. Then we have a few more trips planned the next couple months. My wife started listening to podcasts last summer when she was driving back to Pittsburgh herself a lot. When we took a couple long trips they were good for a break from music. There isn’t much on Netflix and no good new music. I’ve hit all of the classic albums already (downloaded). any good podcasts that are must listens? Outdoor or not outdoor. rick Quote
Global Moderator 12poundbass Posted January 26, 2024 Global Moderator Posted January 26, 2024 Shawn Ryan Show has plenty of good episodes Quote
Super User islandbass Posted January 26, 2024 Super User Posted January 26, 2024 Joe Rogan has a ton with and wide variety of very interesting topics and interviewees. I don’t know if these are true podcasts but if you’re both interested the the story and history behind great songs, he is your guy. The Professor of Rock. In stop and go traffic I enjoy listening to him. In addition to telling stories he sometimes interviews the artists. just an example 2 Quote
Global Moderator TnRiver46 Posted January 26, 2024 Global Moderator Posted January 26, 2024 I try to avoid podcasts at all costs. Fishing related shows are the only ones I will play. My wife plays some of outside magazine on road trips and even those have a not so subliminal message. Buyer beware, my buddies from college drink any podcast kool aid they hear 1 Quote
Super User Jar11591 Posted January 28, 2024 Super User Posted January 28, 2024 Stuff You Should Know. Thousands of episodes, and the two hosts really do their research and breakdown a topic in a very digestible, humorous way. This Past Weekend with Theo Von is really good too. For fishing, BTL is the best, especially Thursday episodes. Tackle Talk is ok too, if you remember to skip the 20 minute ad read to start the show. 2 Quote
Super User Choporoz Posted January 28, 2024 Super User Posted January 28, 2024 I've listened to just a couple episodes of Big Bass Podcast and will do more. Very different than others. Couple guys tell history of monster bass catches, records, etc. I tried Bass Edge, and wanted to like it, but the sound was so bad, I couldn't understand anything. Maybe I should try another episode. I listen to Mercer when there's a guest I think might interest me. BTL most episodes. Planet Money and Hidden Brain when the summary piques my interest....Around the NFL for another couple weeks, anyway. 1 Quote
DaubsNU1 Posted January 28, 2024 Posted January 28, 2024 Another vote for Rogan. I pick and choose the episodes I want to listen to...he has scientists, researchers, comedians, authors...people he finds interesting. I don't much care for his MMA episodes. Discovered Jordan B. Peterson via Rogan. Interesting man for sure. He also has a podcast. For comedy, two bears 1 cave is funny. Short podcast, the way I heard it from Mike Rowe. 1 Quote
VolFan Posted January 28, 2024 Posted January 28, 2024 Armchair Experts is an easy one to listen to. Also The Lazarus Heist is another good one - great story, real life, and you might learn something. Quote
Kev-mo Posted January 29, 2024 Posted January 29, 2024 I rarely listen to podcasts, but I did listen to Rogan interview Jewel cause my youngest listens to him. Highly recommend checking out the Jewel interview!! I believe this one is 4-5 hours. Quote

All over the map. I also really like Ron Spomer Outdoors and Backcountry Hunting. Both are hunting and fun focused, but great. Quote
