Jmurphy87 Posted January 25, 2024 Posted January 25, 2024 I recently bought a new tatula elite spinning rod for hair jigs, the 7’6 ml. I can’t seem to find any information on the internet about it though or even find the exact rod listed anywhere 🤔 The rod is the latest generation of tatula elite 7’6 ml lure range 1/16-5/16 line rating is 4-10lb test. The rod has cork handles that none of the normal elite rods have. so my question for you guys that are more knowledgeable about Daiwa rods is that does this rod truly exist ? Did they get rid of the model or was it built on a AGS rod blank with the Fuji guides ? My guess is that it was built on a AGS blank, but I looked for over 3 hours last night and couldn’t find anything😔 thank you for your time and knowledge I appreciate it, I am mystified at this point lol. Super User casts_by_fly Posted January 25, 2024 Super User Posted January 25, 2024 looks like its this one: https://www.tackledirect.com/daiwa-ttel761mlfs-ags-2023-tatula-elite-ags-spinning-rod.html The same model number without the AGS is not the same weight rating. Since its printed on the blank, I'd go with the weight rating on the blank as the right one. I imagine the tags on yours just don't have the updated info with AGS. Possibly the same card tag for both. Possibly when they packed the early batches they didn't have a new tag in with AGS on them. 1 Quote

That’s what I was thinking also. I got around to looking at it today and took some pictures of it. The last photo shows the guide with Fuji on it, that’s why I am assuming that they put the wrong guides on the wrong blank at the factory or something. It’s just very odd, I would say that the ratings are right on the rod it feels really good and like that’s what I would rate the blank for. Quote
Junger Posted January 25, 2024 Posted January 25, 2024 Go with the blank rating, he says it's 4-10lbs in his video too. 1 Quote

Thanks, yeah I watched that video earlier today or last night. Can’t remember. I have a 2.75 year old that is not feeling the best so my only free time is when he is asleep, hard to keep track of time. I am going to use 8lb braid to 7lb or lighter leader so it’s in the wheelhouse. Quote
Super User NorthernBasser Posted January 25, 2024 Super User Posted January 25, 2024 I think the Daiwa folks were maybe partying too much when putting all the info etc together with these new Elite's (which are great rods). This is what it says on the website compared to the actual rod. Not a big deal at all, but these technique recommendations are off a bit. Usually they would match up exactly. Like I said, it's not an issue, just something I noticed when I received the rod. 3 Quote

Although after a while we know what they will do from the feeling or feedback alone. 1 Quote
Solution Big Hands Posted January 27, 2024 Solution Posted January 27, 2024 The 7'6" hair jig rod with the AGS guide train was rated M-ML (the Seth Feider model) and sold for around $270. That rod is no longer listed on their website. Instead they have assigned Feider-man a 6'9" casting rod for jerkbaits. The new Chris Johnston Tatula Elite 7'6" hair jig spinning rod is the one the OP has and is a pretty recent offering. There is also a 'regular' Tatula 7'6" M-ML hair jig rod too. 1 Quote

Thank you for the information, that’s what I was thinking. I just was confused because it doesn’t have the two tone blank or the AGS guides like the high end model. I think the one I got is the standard elite non AGS guides and standard grey blank. I got it out today and it feels great. Thank you to everyone who replied and offered very helpful feedback and information I finally figured it out. I am really going to like this rod after using it some today 🙂 thanks again everyone have a great night. 1 Quote
GetFishorDieTryin Posted January 28, 2024 Posted January 28, 2024 The new elites have both cork and eva options in the new models, depending on the particular rod. Blank wise there isn't much difference at all between the Tatula and Elites. The Tatula uses a Fazlite, Elite uses Alconite and Elite AGS is obviously AGS. 1 Quote
Big Hands Posted January 29, 2024 Posted January 29, 2024 Also, it appears that they still do offer the Seth Feider 7'6 M-ML AGS version. It's just that the AGS versions are now listed in a separate section from the other Tatula Elite rods. 1 Quote
