Oh nice.   I don’t use Lews gear but good for Scott.    So it’s rods and reels?  He left Favorite?    Did he have ownership in favorite as well or was just on the pro staff?

Never heard that he did. He was using Shimano reels without a Shimano sponsorship, and he wasn't using Favorite reels, so it seems just a pro-staffer.

Yeah maybe it’s googan baits he invested in.  And then joined favorite and was using their rods and then googans left them.   🤷🏻‍♂️.  I knew he was using Shimano reels.   I’m behind in times.  Oh well..  His signature series with Okuma are still some of my favourite rods to this day!   Either way all the best to him with Lews.

Not sure that all of his reels were Shimano. Some of them I figured were probably Favorite as they didn't appear to be anything I recognized ;~)

Some of them were looking pretty beat up as I recall too. . . .

His casting reels were for sure. I took note of it. His father uses Favorite reels though.

I am referring to his spinning reels being the models I didn't recognize.

Well, they'll be Lew's now, so...

Yes, and on Roland's channel, I have seen he used the rod and reel as a walking stick when wadefishing smallies. We're talking about full submerge in the muddy water. I am just glad that's not a Shimano reel.

Dude is 80 and still truckin'. I'd say that's forgivable even if he was using Shimano/Loomis.

Like many he's been changing almost yearly. Okuma, Favorite ,ect.

At least it's a step up from googan and favorite. I guess. I personally wouldn't have used those to stoke my fireplace but he's always been a good salesman and his daughter seems to be following in his footsteps.

Not surprising, but seems like the two are leveraging each other to companies/sponsorships; no deal unless we’re both in. Probably Dad looking out for his daughter’s best interests and developing her resume. Just saw another announcement this morning that the pair were added to the BeatDown Outdoors team.

Good for them but Lews needs another pro staffer like they need a hole in the head. The money and time should be spent on the short staffed facility they have. They lack customer service people,  sales staff to shops, and warehouse people. Personally I think this is a slap in the face to the over worked everyday employees they have. I will continue to invest my money elsewhere.

Lews had leg up when the previous owners brought them back to life. They had good products at good prices due to minimal overhead (no big sponsorship etc). I didn’t expect that to last forever, nature of the beast.

Their headquarters was here in Springfield They had a tackle shop and a really cool little museum of bass fishing here. You could get amazing deals on rods reels clothing. They didn’t survive Covid ,Now it’s just there warehouse

I don't think covid closed them it was the Strike king buy out that did it. I don't think they are in that building on Hwy 44 at all anymore.

I'm sure you know that Bait WRX off Hwy 65 has some of the same guys .

Truer words were never spoken. The name  Lew Childre built is now a Wal Mart blister pack deal.

Lynn Reeves wasn't a young man when he got the rights to use the name from the Childre family so it was a build it up and sell it deal. But, Anybody but strike king or whoever the parent company is.

Well, I guess it could have been pure fishing that may have been worse.

I have a bunch of reasons - he isn't the same person when the camera is off.
