Super User Bankc Posted January 23, 2024 Super User Posted January 23, 2024 It's up to you what's more important. If you need the money now, then I'd sell them locally and post on Craigslist or FB Market Place as a whole lot. You might only take 1/3rd their total value (or even less), but you'll save yourself a ton of time having to sell each one individually online on something like eBay. However, selling them individually on eBay would net you the greatest return. But it could take months or even years to do. If you want to make more money than selling them as a lot, but not spend years selling each one individually, it might be wise to bunch up a lot of the lesser valuable lures into bundles of similar lures so that you cut down on the number of sales you actually have to go through. And you could take out a few of the most valuable ones, sell them individually online. Kind of strike a balance between the two extremes. What I would not do is sell them in a single bundle locally and take out all of the best ones to sell online individually. The reason being, it'll be a lot harder to sell the large bundle locally if there aren't any valuable lures in the mix to entice a would-be buyer. If you can showcase a few valuable ones in the bundle, people will be more inclined to want to buy the whole lot, knowing that there are at least a few that are going to be worth getting. Otherwise, it's just going to look like you're trying to offload a bunch of junk. 1 Quote
looking45 Posted January 23, 2024 Posted January 23, 2024 Welcome to the forum. Post enough times so you can post in the classifieds. People interested in buying will look there. Not bashing you, but some people are wary of someone trying to sell things with their first post 2 Quote
rgasr63 Posted January 23, 2024 Posted January 23, 2024 Craigslist is ok but eBay will take their share and then you got that discounted price that you were trying to get more money for. Fb marketplace works ok too. Quote

Global Moderator 12poundbass Posted January 24, 2024 Global Moderator Posted January 24, 2024 This past summer our high school fishing club had a car wash to raise money. I decided to go through my stuff and pull out a box of lures and soft plastics I hadn’t used and won’t use and dropped them off to them. It was nice to see the kids digging through the box and smiling and the coaches coming up, shaking my hand, thanking me, and talking fishing for a quick minute. I’d go this route, it’s worth more than you’ll make selling the lures. 1 Quote
Cdn Angler Posted January 24, 2024 Posted January 24, 2024 I'd also say going the Facebook Marketplace/Craiglist route is a good one, but it really depends on where you live. There might be a lot of fishermen, there might not be. From what I've seen it is hard to get people to buy HUGE lots of lures unless they are underpriced by a lot as the market is basically a reseller looking to make their own profit. The best way to maximize price with minimal hassle is to group them into lots based on type of lure, assuming your collection isn't completely all over the plac.e Quote
WaskaCrank12 Posted January 24, 2024 Posted January 24, 2024 @addicyn There are many good people in the Bass Resource community - several have chimmed in and given you some good options (Facebook Marketplace, EBay, CraigsList, local Swap Shop, ect..) On the Bass Resource site there is a "Flea Market" section (if you scroll down the Forum choices you will see it) - in that section Glenn (site administrator) has listed out the "do's and dont's" and guidelines to posting pictures/prices/ect.... As mentioned above I beleive you have to post a certain number of times on the BR site before you are allowed to load pictures. Keep asking questions -- lots of good people on here to support you. Super User Bankbeater Posted January 25, 2024 Super User Posted January 25, 2024 You might contact some auctioneers and see what they say. There are a lot of collectors that visit auctions looking for antique or discontinued hard lures. Quote
WaskaCrank12 Posted January 25, 2024 Posted January 25, 2024 @Bankbeater is offering a good suggestions with the auctioneer. In addition there are some online auction companies that will take the pictures and place them on an auction site (an example is the KBid site, they take a % of the sales) -- you can have open bidding or you can set a minimum bid/reserve that has to be met -- you could auction each lure individually in each lot or multiple lures in a lot -- you could have the bidding last two days or two weeks -- this allows you to have a far reach/many people bidding on them. Just a suggestion. 1 Quote
