How much snow this winter? And how are you moving it??

Not nearly what some of you folks are getting, the biggest was 14” of heavy wet snow. I have a Simplicity Signature Pro commercial job, I was looking for the most power after having a little 5hp before that. Sure is nice when you get into that heavy wet stuff. Got it the year before B&S bought them.

 

My brother has and uses the Arien’s that my dad used, 60 years ago, starts and runs fine every time. I remember when my dad added the electric starter to it, what a beast before that?

We got about 15 inches over the last couple of weeks. Wind chill of -30. 
 

We live in a condo community where the homeowners association does all the snow clearing in the winter, and all the landscaping work in the summer.

havnt had to use the 1976 Bobcat yet this winter here in fargo nd. So far my wife has handled all that we have recieved using a shovel.

A snow plow is out there on my street 9 days later. There is a large crowding walking around filming the event 😂 . Freedom is imminent

Our whole 1 inch of snow here is probably going to be all gone within a couple days.

Haha.  You know, in early January I was kinda thinking the same thing.  But then we had that cold snap and I thought, maybe not.

 

Now I'm flipping back based on what's coming.  I think you're right, at least the crappie stuff.

Seeing all these pics makes me miss snow...then I remember sometimes clearing the driveway every 2 hours and into the night and then I'm ok. 

 

Still nothing like the dead quiet and peace outside during a snow fall.

So far it’s been mild. A 10 inch storm and a few 2-3 inchers is it. But February and early March are the real tests. The Ariens hasn’t gotten too much use this year and I hope it stays like that.

My wife was traveling the week it was first cold here and we had a warm front coming the following week.  I did all of the oiling and clearning for every reel.  I only stripped line from one through because I don't like to put it on too early and let it sit there.  Nothing quite like fresh line on a reel.  So i left the rest with line on, just in case...

 

We've got ice on everything, but this will take care of it.  60 degree rain and 10 mph wind should bust it all up.  Now the trick is whether I can get out before it freezes again.

Is that a briggs and stratton engine on that blower?  It looks identical to mine.

No its a Tecumseh engine

44 inches so far this year according to the local news.

According to the NWS - we've gotten a total of 7.3" so far this season...average by the end of January is around 33"...we got some ground to make up otherwise the lakes are going to take another hit.

yeah, that's what I meant.  Its the same engine I have (mine is on a craftsman).  I had something else with a Briggs engine that made me think that.

Surprisingly, we're actually ahead on moisture this winter though because on Christmas we received almost 3 inches of rain.  That's the equivalent of about approximately 3 feet of snow.

We've had several snows here in NW Virginia, not crippling but enough to plow.

 

We live 1/2 mile off a state maintained road and I keep it opened with a Suzuki king quad 700.

Of course a dry snow is preferable.
