fishhugger Posted January 19, 2024 Posted January 19, 2024 i have two perigee II spin rods, both 7'. one rod is mh, action fast, line 10-20#, lure 3/8 to 1oz. the other rod is a TWIN tip: tip 1 is M power, line 6-12#, lure 3/16 to 5/8 oz. tip 2 is MH, line 8 to 14#, lure weight 3/8 to 3/4 oz..... is there much of a difference between these, and which one might be best suited to light plastics? are they 'sensitive' enough? i'd pair it with either a sedona 4000 with braid, or a penn battle 2 2500 with mono. i'm guessing the 4000 might be more appropriate, balance wise? i'd prefer not to buy another rod............... thanks in advance.... Super User MN Fisher Posted January 19, 2024 Super User Posted January 19, 2024 For weightless (or lightly weighted) wacky and Neds I'd go with the Medium tip on the Twin. Either reel - but I wouldn't go straight braid for either technique For Neds, I run 10# braid to a 6# FC leader - you could use mono For Wacky it's straight 8# FC - again, mono is an option One reel for both techniques - 10#-15# Braid to 8# leader of at least 6' length. 4 Quote
Joshua Voss Posted January 21, 2024 Posted January 21, 2024 I personally think both rods are way to stiff to cast a ned rig properly, work the bait, and also detect bites. I would definitely recommend dropping to a rod that has a minimum lure rating of at least 1/8 oz, if not even lower. My personal rod of choice is the Shimano Poison Adrena 6'10" UL/M, which is rated 1/16-1/2 oz. The M you have will be perfect for wacky. 2 Quote

I would agree both rods are too heavy, especially for Ned Rigs. A 4000 size reel is more saltwater, catfish oriented to me. For Neds I would want a 2000 size reel with 6lb FC and a 7' ML Fast rod that goes around 1/16 - 1/2oz or even lighter. 2 Quote
fishhugger Posted January 22, 2024 Author Posted January 22, 2024 thanks for the replies. i'll go ahead and try wacky with the medium power of the rods i listed above. does anyone have an idea of how sensitive the perigee ii spin rods are? Quote

Probably about the same as other rods in that price range - I'm thinking Daiwa Procyon or Fuego. Personally, I find my Procyon L/F to be more than sufficiently sensitive for Ned/Hair Jigging. 1 Quote
rgasr63 Posted January 22, 2024 Posted January 22, 2024 I have the twin tip perigee 2 rod. It really fishes well for me. As far as sensitivity it is the same as my BPS carbonlite 2.0 in IMHO. 1 Quote
