Anyone used this? I'm looking at it as a BFS option. It's rated 1/16-3/8. If you've fished one, can it truly cast that low? Or at least down to ~1/8. They've also got one in the Helium line that's a fast action. I kinda wanted the mod fast though to help with casting. If you have any input on this one or the Helium I'd love to hear it

Just email Trey and ask, they are pretty good on these recommendations. I do think they have a true BFS line now too.

Yeah I've seen their BFS rods. I'm not looking for anything that whippy. I'd like to have just a smidgen of power 😂

I have one of the Hunt BFS rods and it has some power to it surprisingly. It is does have a light tip and that is how should be designed. You are not going to pull a 5lb+ from heavy cover with it but you probably won't do that with a ML either.

I did look into the KLX rod you mentioned when I bought the Hunt BFS. The KLX was sold out then and looks to be still sold out.

I caught this smallmouth on the Hunts and it was a blast.

And this one and several others last year from a kayak....

Or call him. He will give you the straight scoop.

I have a medium KLX that will cast 1/8 with the right reel. I have a Hakai with 8# mono on mine and I throw a 1/16oz jig with a 2” grub as a trailer.

Haha well I hope not! I just ordered one. I'll give her a fondle when she arrives and see how she feels. I'm hoping it's what I'm looking for

Which one of the Hunts do you have? The 3X looks to be the most in line with what I'm looking for

I have the 7' 3x. It's pretty awesome.  For once, I like it better than my Megabass BFS rods.

Ok cool. That's the one that would work best for me I think. I read that the action is super moderate on it. Would you agree? Can you set the hook on a light wire EWG with a small plastic?

It's fast at the tip and almost progressive throughout.  It's, too me, the perfect taper for a BFS rod that can handle bass.

As far as EWG plastic, it will depend on what it is. You are not going to have the power you do with say a regular Med. fast rod.

I have used Dolive Beavers and some Ned Rig stuff.  You do have to set the hook differently than you do on other rods. I don't pull hard. I sort of let the fish hook itself.  Your line choice and drag setting should also be set up properly. This rod does have some power though.

I know this is the guy is selling his own rod but what he says is accurate.

Talking mostly neds/any TRD lure on something like a 1/0 or #1 hook. I'll check out some of these vids. Thanks!

Just curious: I see you’re selling your Sierra 682. Did you try it for 1/16 or 1/8 and the lures you mentioned? If so, how’d that go? (It’s rated low end is 3/16 so I can see that could be a tad too much power for what you’re wanting to do?)

Too stiff for what I'm looking for
