Super User NorthernBasser Posted January 11, 2024 Super User Posted January 11, 2024 Have you guys heard if they've been discontinued? There's no spinning rods listed on TW. They only have 2 casting models. I can't find them on Daiwa's website. It's too bad if so. These were some very nice rods which were made to compete head to head with the Shimano Zodias. For whatever reason I just don't think they took off like they were hoping. Quote
Bass Rutten Posted January 11, 2024 Posted January 11, 2024 I've been shopping around online for a cranking rod and noticed them disappearing too. I'd bet the next gen rebellion will be arriving at this summers icast. 1 Quote

JediAmoeba Posted January 11, 2024 Posted January 11, 2024 They are gone. I have the full 23-24 catalog and they are not in there. So if you can find them, I would buy them. 1 Quote
LCG Posted January 11, 2024 Posted January 11, 2024 I bought both a spinning and casting in the Rebellion line. I have really liked them. For whatever reason they never advertised them or promoted them like the Tatula lineup. Not sure why as they have proven to be great rods. Mine are two piece rods, which is hard to find in a quality rod nowdays. 1 Quote
Eric 26 Posted January 11, 2024 Posted January 11, 2024 Are/were they available in the Japanese domestic market? Quote

When I was researching them before buying, I saw some of YouTube videos of Japanese professional anglers sponsored by Daiwa using them. Didn't understood them as I don't speak the language, but I assume they were readily available in Japan. 1 Quote
JediAmoeba Posted January 11, 2024 Posted January 11, 2024 Some of the rebellion rods were US only: https://www.daiwa.com/global/en/products/rebellion/ That's why I say they are gone. They may be reintroduced though! 3 Quote
Big Hands Posted January 12, 2024 Posted January 12, 2024 If there is a particular Daiwa rod that you want, I would call them directly and ask if they have any in their warehouse. 2 1 Quote
GetFishorDieTryin Posted January 12, 2024 Posted January 12, 2024 I dont think Rebellion sold too well. People bought them, but they probably sell 15 or 20 Tatulas to every 1 Rebellion. The line wasnt very extensive, just a few versatile lengths and powers. I was curious about buying one a couple years ago, but I couldn't find too many too much info on them and no shops around here carried them. I did finally get to get hands on one at TD last summer and I liked it, but its got some tough competition @200$. 2 Quote
thunderblack Posted January 12, 2024 Posted January 12, 2024 If these didn't fly under the radar they would be sold out not discontinued. BLX rods were killer too and not many people fished those either. 2 Quote
SproDD79 Posted January 12, 2024 Posted January 12, 2024 The 7ft ML spinning is an amazing neko ned rod. I'm hopeful Daiwa brings them back with new and improved components. 2 Quote

lynxcat Posted January 13, 2024 Posted January 13, 2024 I own a two piece rebellion casting that is for taking on trips. It’s an okay rod…I much prefer my Tatula elites over it. Quote
Fishin Dad Posted January 13, 2024 Posted January 13, 2024 It seems that Daiwa has not figured out how to market their rods. They make some awesome rods, but you rarely hear them mentioned, especially outside the Tatula Elite and Tatula line. They need to figure out how to get that segment going. 1 Quote

Daiwas rod tiers are a little screwy, the rebeliion line is trying to compete at the $200 price point with not only other brands but also with their own tatula elites at $190 which is also the line they chose to place some of their signature rods and heavily market. Then you have a $100 price gap between them and the $300 AGS rods. A new and improved rebellion or a completely new series at $250 would make the most sense. 1 Quote

That’s why I think they need to clean up their marketing and have R & D involved with them. I have regular Tatula, Elite, and Rebellion, even though none are for the same technique. They have all been nice rods for me. Nothing crazy, but solid for their purpose. The Rebellion with Ti sic guides for $200 seems like a good deal. I like the rod a lot. I have the Heavy Regular for for bladed jigs. I love it for that. Very light and actually sensitive for glass. I almost want to grab another one in case something happens to this one. Quote
Bass Rutten Posted January 13, 2024 Posted January 13, 2024 Not sure which one you're looking for but copperstate tackle has 3 different versions of rebellion glass models in stock, I was hoping to see some discounts on them but I couldn't wait any more. Yesterday I sprung for one of the new for 23 tatula elite rods, found a screaming deal for $150 on the Takahiro Omori glass cranking rod. 1 Quote

It's the new for 23 non ags model with the darker grey finish. The last elite I had I sold, I couldn't take the look of it, I sold it to the silver surfer, he's over the moon with it 😆 1 Quote

Also, the reel seat is so much more comfortable. I have the Howell 7'4 MH/M casting rod. I definitely think I'll get another in this line. Maybe a spinning rod. Quote

They are nice, I've been using the 23 feider topwater/jerk rod since last spring, so light and fun for topwater fishing. This one will be my first bonafide glass cranking rod so although I'm excited to get it I'm not sure quite what to expect with it being glass, might love it , might hate it, hopefully the former. For $160 (when did the price go up...used to always be $150) it's a bargain. Especially if you get it on sale. 1 Quote
