cheeseman Posted November 26, 2006 Posted November 26, 2006 is stren magnathin good for crankbait fishing?what about berkley trilene sensation line? Quote
Cajun1977 Posted November 26, 2006 Posted November 26, 2006 i like the trilene ive only owned 2 spools of stren before and i had probs with both of them what size pound test are you using Quote
jdw174 Posted November 26, 2006 Posted November 26, 2006 If you're fishing around rocks I would stay away from Magnathin. Very little abraision resistence at all. Quote
toothdoc Posted November 26, 2006 Posted November 26, 2006 Trilene Sensation is pretty tough stuff. Quote
The_Natural Posted November 27, 2006 Posted November 27, 2006 I use Pline CXX in 10, 12, and 15lb tests. Quote
OnyxWulf Posted November 28, 2006 Posted November 28, 2006 I have a Curado 200DHSV and a G.Loomis Crankbait rod. I have now tried 4 different lines on it and my favorite that I have used by far is the Gamma. I use 10lb test. I have tried: Stren Magnathin - too many reties and seems to break easy. P-Line CX Premium Moss Green - too rigid. I couldn't seem to get a rythm with this line Maxima Ultragreen Line - because I had a spool sitting around. Not good stuff. Gamma High Performance Copolymer - Tough, not too much memory, doesn't break easy, comes of the reel nice and the price is right. I will be sticking with Gamma for a while even though I just ordered some P-Line Evolution Smoke Silver, which I will try next. Quote
Deuceu72 Posted November 28, 2006 Posted November 28, 2006 I use 10 lb Seaguar for almost all crankbait fishing......... Quote
Siebert Outdoors Posted November 28, 2006 Posted November 28, 2006 I use mostly 10lb flourocarbon. Quote
R Tilson Posted November 29, 2006 Posted November 29, 2006 After using Floro for years I've switched to Hi-Seas White Lightning in 12#. Results: Longer cast Deeper dive Less memory Good abrasion resistance Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted November 29, 2006 Super User Posted November 29, 2006 Yo-Zuri Hybrid Ultra Soft #12 (19.5 lb test). Quote
Super User FishTank Posted November 29, 2006 Super User Posted November 29, 2006 P-Line Flourclear #12 Quote
Super User .ghoti. Posted November 30, 2006 Super User Posted November 30, 2006 I now use mostly 10 lb Vanish for cranks. Used to use Trilene XL. Been experimenting with some others. P-Line is too stiff. It makes a good slinky. Magnathin is too easily abraided. Xl has quite a bit of stretch, but is still, IMHO, the best handling line. Tried some Silver Thread AN40. I picked it out of the clearance bin at wally-world. Not bad at all. Sensation is decent. For next season, I have a spool of Gamma and a spool of Sufix Elite, both in 10, ready to try. The experimenting never stops. Cheers, GK Quote
Cousin Eddie Posted December 2, 2006 Posted December 2, 2006 You guys using fluoro for cranking, I'm assuming it's more for the low stretch, abrasion resistance and not so much for the low vis property. I'm I correct? Quote
OnyxWulf Posted December 4, 2006 Posted December 4, 2006 Yes. Also because it gets to the depths that I like quickly. Quote
lubina Posted December 5, 2006 Posted December 5, 2006 I use P-Line Fluoroclear or CX 10-12 lbs except for deep cranking that I switch to P-Line Fluorocarbon Quote
Super User MALTESE FALCON Posted December 6, 2006 Super User Posted December 6, 2006 I'VE BEEN USING TRILENE XL FOR TWENTY YEARS. I JUST HAVEN'T FOUND ANYTHING I LIKE BETTER. BEFORE I TRIED TRILENE MY BUDDY SUGGESTED STREN, BUT I DIDN'T HAVE MUCH LUCK WITH IT. THIS SUMMER I'M GOING TO TRY BRAID ON ONE OF MY RIGS. Quote
