Fishing_FL_WI_Will Posted January 10, 2024 Posted January 10, 2024 Any recommendations of a good spinning for 20-30lb braid? In the 200 range. Quote
Super User MN Fisher Posted January 10, 2024 Super User Posted January 10, 2024 I can't think of a spinning reel in that dollar range that won't handle braid properly...heck, I run 20# Sufix 832 on my older $100 Pflueger Supreme without issue... I just recommend at least a 2500 size reel. 1 Quote
Fishing_FL_WI_Will Posted January 10, 2024 Author Posted January 10, 2024 Thank you. Any good 2500 series recommendations in that $ range. Quote
PaulVE64 Posted January 10, 2024 Posted January 10, 2024 Does a light reel mean more than durability for you? I like a BG 3000 but it is heavy. But it works well for my StC rods which alot of people call "tip-heavy" I'm rough on my gear. Quote
Super User MN Fisher Posted January 10, 2024 Super User Posted January 10, 2024 Personally if I was to drop $200 on a reel? Shimano Stradic or Pflueger Patriarch another option Daiwa Procyon AL 3 1 Quote
mcipinkie Posted January 11, 2024 Posted January 11, 2024 Personally, I wouldn't drop $200 on a reel, particularly a spinning reel. I'd drop $75 on a Pflueger President and buy some jerk baits. Or maybe $125 on Revo X and a couple fewer jerk baits. I throw the Revo X a lot. Think I have 4 of them. Quote
Super User ATA Posted January 11, 2024 Super User Posted January 11, 2024 sub $100 reels like Shimano Sahara FJ 2500 size or if you are Daiwa guy do any of LT family that matches your budget. All will do the job. Quote
Eric 26 Posted January 11, 2024 Posted January 11, 2024 @Fishing_FL_WI_Will Although I don’t normally use expensive spinning reels I did purchase both a Daiwa BG 1500 and a Stradic 1000 last spring both at a great price. I will say both performed well but there’s something special about the Daiwa even with the weight, the line lay is absolutely perfect and the reel is eerily smooth. 1 Quote
Super User Columbia Craw Posted January 11, 2024 Super User Posted January 11, 2024 Daiwa Caldia 3000LT for 148.00 thru Digitaka. 👍👍👍 Quote
Super User Bird Posted January 11, 2024 Super User Posted January 11, 2024 I never spend close to that on spinning. Okuma Ceymar feels like I did. Quote
Zcoker Posted January 11, 2024 Posted January 11, 2024 I use a Shimano Stella 4k most of the time but got one of those Daiwa 4k MQ reels and it’s just as tight and smooth as the Stella. Very happy with its performance. It’s around $200. Might wanna check them out. Quote
JackstrawIII Posted January 11, 2024 Posted January 11, 2024 I’m a big fan of the Pflueger Supreme XT size 3500 for heavier duty spinning setups. They’ve been super durable and perform well. 9 hours ago, Eric 26 said: there’s something special about the Daiwa even with the weight, the line lay is absolutely perfect and the reel is eerily smooth. I also have one of the BG’s and what Eric says is true. 1 Quote

JediAmoeba Posted January 11, 2024 Posted January 11, 2024 I love my tatula 3000 cxh. It's amazing and I don't really like using spinning reels Quote
Super User webertime Posted January 11, 2024 Super User Posted January 11, 2024 I think you will find nobody spent 200 on a spinning reel and hated it 2 Quote
