Daiwa Reel Questions (japan)

I was wondering if any of you guys have any experiance or knowledge of any of the following reels.

I am looking for something to cast light weight stuff and maybe unweighted soft plastics.

Daiwa SMAK 1000

Daiwa Saltist

Daiwa Alpha 103 type f

Daiwa Zillion 100H

Daiwa Aird 100

I got to cast a Alphas Ito Ai reel and I loved it but not for the price. The only thing that keeps my interest in Daiwa Products now is their extremely close business relationship with ITO Engineering. Did I mention it weighs in at 5.9 ounces?

I found the Pixy too small and very little spool capacity, so I returned and got a Type F, this reel cast like a dream, even better than my favorite TD-Z or my Scorpion 1001.

The Smak and the Air D are actually not freshwater reels but light saltwater reels.

From the remaining I would choose the Alphas Type F, excellent light bait reel without sacrificing the ability of casting the regular baits.

Since the Pixy was mentioned, nobody can beat the Pixy for the lightweight stuff, it casts like a dream but you are not going to like the drag, quite lacking of power for those used to stronger drags. As for line capacity......I don 't see why some complain about the line capacity, 75 yards of regular 10 pound test nylon sound more than enough to me taking in consideration it 's a light lure specialty reel and light lures don 't fly much.

I have the regular Alphas (Purple Wonder) and love it. The type F has two bearings in the handle but is not for use around brackish water. I plan to up-graded mine with a ZPI Carbon Handle with four bearings this coming year.

I own 2 Alphas and 2 pixys, and they appear to be the exact same size to me.  The Pixy has plenty of line capacity for 10lb test and under.  I do like my Alphas, and upgraded the spools to I'ZE ultralight spools with tuned rotors and ceramic bearings.  This made an improvement, but they still will not match the Pixy's casting ability.  The Pixy is available from Brooklyn Bill for $247, and the Alphas Type F can be had for $189 from Ginrinpeche (ebay store).  As Raul said, out of the reels mentioned, I would go with the Alphas hands down  8-)

I don't have the Pixy anymore so I can't compare but my impression was that is smaller, I know that is lighter and the spool diameter is smaller.
