National Title Game Thread

It’s no big secret I’m a Wolverine fan. Washington’s QB has a cannon but they haven’t been up against a defense as good as Michigan’s. On top of that Washington (from what I read) isn't good at stopping the run game which Michigan loves. I think Michigan takes this game 31-21.

No skin in the game, but plan to watch.  I see that Michigan is favored by 4.5 points.

 

I'll go with the underdog.  Washington by 3.

So I wouldn't feel safe not pulling for the Wolverines.

Especially while I sleep.

Should be a good game though.

The 'Boston Patriots' were REALLY bad while I was growing up in Boston.

Sort of like now.

The 20 or so year run of winning all the time was a nice break.

But now were back to what I'm used to.

My son's pretty bummed out about it though.

They've been winning just about his whole life.

Michigan is the best team in the country and Washington isn’t in the top ten.  That doesn’t mean Washington can’t win because the ball bounces where it will but I’ll take Michigan by 14.

My brother was right...he thought this game would be decided by the men in stripes.  

 

He thought ff Michigan's DB's were allowed to man-handle Washington's receivers, and there were a few holding calls on Husky O-lineman, it was going to be a long night. 

 

Michigan controlled the line of scrimmage, ran for 300+ yards, and played to keep Husky receivers from getting deep. Welcome to B1G football.

They let them play football and called the egregious penalties, you know the way football should be played. 
 

To be fair 73 for Washington was moving almost every play in the fourth quarter.

@12poundbass, agree with you, they let them play, and that's the way football should be played! I was fearful the refs would call lots of tick-tack DPI penalties, and turn the game in to a Bid 12 type shoot-out.

 

Nope, Michigan won by playing great defense, stopping the run / forcing UW to throw the ball. And Michigan ran the ball, controlled the clock, and wore them down. Great recipe for success.

 

73 had a rough night.

This is the primary reason they won if you ask me.  That's a lot of freaking yardage on the ground.  And the clock runs most of the time when you are running the ball.

Penix was seriously injured by the end of the game from getting hit - hard - over and over and over again, yet not a single flag.  While I hate over-officiating, this was the opposite. Many, many more egregious non-calls, particularly PI.  And then there was the holding call that wasn't, which completely handed the game over to Michigan on a silver platter.  SMH

The SEC won 6 games during the FBS playoff Era the last ten years. ACC won 2. And the big 10 won 2.  I saw 'em all. Michigan is an outstanding championship team. I'm an SEC man.
