In Minn and ND when the sun goes down the mosquitoes are extremely bad and wearing thick heavy clothing and a mosquito face net they still find skin. Here is a true story about a friend of mine whom is legally blind, when i lived in the philippines he was my neighbor and i went to his place and he was eating cookies covered with live ants, I told him and he said he cant see them so oh well. 2 1 Quote
Super User Catt Posted January 7, 2024 Super User Posted January 7, 2024 IDK 😉 Lots of my trips are spur of the moment. I have one trip planned for the March full moon on the Big Pond. 5 Quote
Pat Brown Posted January 7, 2024 Posted January 7, 2024 I fish places that are all 5-10 minutes from my house and I don't see that changing drastically but I'll be making a few field trips in the spring to some new to me little local lakes that apparently have some pretty big fish, but mostly my plan is to continue to learn and master the bodies of water I am slowly becoming intimate with! 3 Quote
CaptMikeStarrett Posted January 7, 2024 Posted January 7, 2024 I prefer swamps and tidal rivers. So along with my band of Adventures I plan to fish Tulls Bay on the Northwest and and also the Pasquotank in Elizabeth city. This would be the third year fishing out of Currituck NC. Capt Mike 4 Quote
Super User DogBone_384 Posted January 7, 2024 Super User Posted January 7, 2024 I have my regular South Shore / Cape Cod rotation. I might try to get out to central / western MA. Maybe a week long trip with my boat to NH? We'll see. I should do more striper fishing since I live on a peninsula and can launch my kayak 100 yards from my house. 3 Quote
Alex from GA Posted January 7, 2024 Posted January 7, 2024 I usually have 5 lakes and 2 rivers when I'm in FL that I trade off at + the gulf. I might hit more if a friend joins me. In GA I mostly fish 1 lake and a bunch of rivers and creeks for the GA Bass Slam. 1 Quote
BassinBrett Posted January 8, 2024 Posted January 8, 2024 I am going to the White River in AR, Wisconsin, and Mille Lac. I probably still fish some of the lakes near home. 1 Quote

Super User N Florida Mike Posted January 8, 2024 Super User Posted January 8, 2024 I’m not counting ponds, but I’d like to add a few good ones this year. Florida is full of water bodies. I’m somewhat burned out on many of the lakes in N Florida. The idea of going to one of them and having great success is limited in my mind. I’ve fished many of them back when the state had hslf as many people in it and was fairly successful then. I’ll continue to fish my favorite on the road lake, which is an hour or so away. I would love to make it down to head waters lake, but it is out of my range distance wise. Thinking of fishing Orange lake , Rodman, and Sante Fe this year. I’m searching for info on other spots. I would LOVE to also get back down to some of the Ocala Forest lakes… 3 Quote

Super User king fisher Posted January 8, 2024 Super User Posted January 8, 2024 I will be fishing the same 4 lakes I fished last year. All have Spanish names, and big bass. 3 Quote
Skunkmaster-k Posted January 8, 2024 Posted January 8, 2024 I’ll fish two lakes in New Mexico and one or two here in Texas. Mostly my home lake until I catch the lake record largemouth. 1 Quote

Maybe you arnt fishing banks into the evening? anyhow the worst is packing up at night to go home and the skeeters get into the car and buzz around the inside of the windshield and trying to swat them while driving a 2 laner at midnite. 1 Quote
Big Hands Posted January 9, 2024 Posted January 9, 2024 One. My duly elected overlords and their faithful minions have determined that there are three bodies of water I could fish that would not require me to endure long quarantine periods (30 days), and one of those I don't particularly care for most of the time and still have to wait eight days before I can attempt to get inspected and then be able to fish my home water. . . . if I pass inspection at that time. The other one, I don't have to get inspected when I return, but I do have to wait eight days before I can launch my boat. So, unless I get an opportunity to fish with someone else in their boat, or travel to Texas to fish with a friend. . . . one it is. 4 Quote

Super User Bird Posted January 9, 2024 Super User Posted January 9, 2024 I bounce around all over the state of VA and WV. Really enjoye fishing new water. If I travel more than 3 hours, usually stay a couple of days or more and usually with the wife and dog. I'm certain I'll hit over 20 different lakes in 2024, Lord willing. 2 Quote

But wait, there's more: They said that it is but one of the many imaginative ways they are able to demonstrate love and respect for their constituents. And, we are currently able to do so between the hours of 7:00 am until 5:00 pm, but: If you aren't willing to get in line an hour before they open, it will take 30-45 minutes to get through the kiosk. You have to answer a list of questions, initial four check boxes, and sign your name. Your boat has to be on the trailer half an hour before they close the gate. It only costs $25 to launch and 'park' your vehicle each day. They call the fees 'launch' and 'park' because it is illegal for them to charge people to enter a county park. I do volunteer work and attend monthly meetings to be able to qualify for a lake pass, or I can pay $285 per year that will allow me to use the facility without paying. . . . except for holidays. . . then you still have to pay $25. I do like to 'fish vicariously' by hearing about all of the different waters my BR friends are able to access. Sorry for the sarcastic tone, but it's the only coping mechanism I have been able to use to temper my true sentiments. 2 Quote
Susky River Rat Posted January 9, 2024 Author Posted January 9, 2024 @Big Hands I know it’s easier said than done. I’d move. That’s just mind blowing to me. 1 Quote
Super User flyfisher Posted January 9, 2024 Super User Posted January 9, 2024 Last year I started exploring more smaller local flows, some wading some with the kayak and I plan to do just that even more. Something special about catching a decent sized smallie out of a stream that you can cast across. I also want to explore more of the james river. I may also revisit some of the places I used to fish for largemouth but haven't in a few years. My real goal is a citation sized smallie on the fly rod and a few more citation sized largemouth on the fly rod too. 1 Quote
928JLH Posted January 9, 2024 Posted January 9, 2024 Fingers crossed for 2024. Lake Mohave. Bartlett, Alamo, Canyon and Saguaro. More river fishing on the Colorado. Maybe Lake Mary again. 1 Quote

Then I'll hit all the regular places. Hit me up if you need spots up here. Live on Champlain soooo. St Lawrence river for 2 weeks Oneida Potomac Smaller inland VT waters 1 1 Quote
T.J. Posted January 10, 2024 Posted January 10, 2024 Just booked my yearly trip to the St Lawrence in late June. I have 6 lakes in NJ/PA that I usually hit with the boat plus a couple from the bank. I want to get back to Wallenpaupack this year. Most likely will do another guide trip in the fall on the Susquehanna North Branch in PA. A coworker’s friend is retiring and starting a guide service on the Susky too so may give him some business in the spring. 1 Quote
