Spent a week down in Orlando with the family and had to get away to do some fishing.  Luckily I stumbled across several posts mentioning Turkey Lake.  I made a reservation for 2 boats and we were set.  I scouted the place out the day before, and the wind was blowing 15+, and it was very cold.  It wasn't looking very promising.  Fished shallow early and had a few frog bites but didn't really get on them good until we pushed offshore in about 10 foot of water and started throwing crankbaits and rattletraps.  Wasted 1/2 our day fishing shallow and should have gone straight to the large bowl and chased the schooling fish.  We ended there with only 30 minutes left and were pulling in doubles on the alabama rig.  Finished the day with 25-30 fish between the two boats with 4 and 5 lbers being the largest.  Had we gone straight to the birds and schooling fish from the beginning we could have easily put 50 fish in the boat.  Would have been smart to book multiple days in a row, one day to figure it out, and one day to wear them out.  We will be back.

At least you figured it out and salvaged the day. Cold fronts have been brutal down here.

Good to hear you figured it out.  There are big fish in there and plenty of water for the few that get to fish it on any given day.  Thanks for the report.
