Holy cow.  Some of these reels are beautiful.  They are made on a custom order basis, and go for $600 - $800! Talk about jewelry for fisherman.   :)

I'm normally not a big fan of the "Japanese" look. To me it's like ..... let's get some of the most gaudy colors and put them together and somehow that becomes cool.

IMO the 1st and 3rd one are awful looking. Fine reels no doubt, but real obnoxious looking.

Now that 2nd one .... Wow, that thing is SWEEEEEEEEEEEETTTTTTT!!!!!

Fine ! Pixy says thanks for asking  :). The more I fish with it the more I enjoy it. The cool thing about having several cool reels is that one trip you take 3 or 4 , the next trip another 3 or 4 and so on to rotate them. They 've got their little hearts you know.

Good luck getting them fixed and for $800 you couldn't throw it away if it brokethat's for sure.

I'd hate to have to hassle with getting it sent out for repair. Then again if someone wants to donate one to me and it happens to break I'd be willing to sacrifice for the cause! lol

Those had better catch min 10lb bass or I wouldn't own ( scratch that I mean pay for ) one.

I love fishing but that would pay for a trip to vegas with air, hotel, food and pretty faced Luxuries!

Ok cheap room and cheap pretty face but...?

It would take a lot of fishing to equal the benefits of that trip! lol

The only two reels where you could have some problem are the Scorpion Mg and Scorpion 1000, that 's if you break any component of the 4x4 SVS. The have exactly the same components you have in domestic reels.

They wouldn't do much for a person who was colorblind. ;D I see no reason for the high dollar tackle, but I am sure they are nice to fish with. I am still stuck with being fascinated with the Japanese baits, haven't found a desire to move up the food chain towards rods and reels yet. :-/ Ivan

Steez is mainstream, those are limited edition.

I guess it depends what matters more. something great to fish, or something great to show off.

Avid:  They are not mutually exclusive............. :)

Pretty is nice, no doubt about it.  But a fishing rod or reel, are outdoors tools.

Even if used with care they are bound to get dinged up a little.

I know guys with 50K bass boats who want go out in the rain

I know guys who have such expensive pretty equipment, they won't fish in places where the rod might get a little scratch.

When you pay all that extra money for cosmestics rather than utility, your gonna be more concerned about keeping it pretty than using it to catch slimy, scaly fish.

No, lightingrod they are not mutually exclusive, but they often come pretty close.
