Super User Redlinerobert Posted November 29, 2006 Super User Posted November 29, 2006 Holy cow. Some of these reels are beautiful. They are made on a custom order basis, and go for $600 - $800! Talk about jewelry for fisherman. Quote
Super User MALTESE FALCON Posted November 29, 2006 Super User Posted November 29, 2006 THEY'RE ALMOST TOO PRETTY TO USE. BUT I'D MAKE THE SACRIFICE. Quote
Super User KU_Bassmaster. Posted November 29, 2006 Super User Posted November 29, 2006 I'm normally not a big fan of the "Japanese" look. To me it's like ..... let's get some of the most gaudy colors and put them together and somehow that becomes cool. IMO the 1st and 3rd one are awful looking. Fine reels no doubt, but real obnoxious looking. Now that 2nd one .... Wow, that thing is SWEEEEEEEEEEEETTTTTTT!!!!! Quote
TournyFish001 Posted November 29, 2006 Posted November 29, 2006 gotta luv the daiwa's those reels are unbelievable- bad ***! Quote
Super User Redlinerobert Posted November 29, 2006 Author Super User Posted November 29, 2006 Call me crazy, but I would take the first one in a heartbeat if i could get a new one. Quote
Super User Raul Posted November 29, 2006 Super User Posted November 29, 2006 Yup, they are nice; but it 's better owning and fishing with them......just like me Quote
basspro48 Posted November 29, 2006 Posted November 29, 2006 By the way Raul, how is that pink pixy holding up? ;D ;D Quote
Super User Raul Posted November 29, 2006 Super User Posted November 29, 2006 Fine ! Pixy says thanks for asking . The more I fish with it the more I enjoy it. The cool thing about having several cool reels is that one trip you take 3 or 4 , the next trip another 3 or 4 and so on to rotate them. They 've got their little hearts you know. Quote
Super User FishTank Posted November 29, 2006 Super User Posted November 29, 2006 WOW. Wish we could get us versions. Quote
Lightninrod Posted November 30, 2006 Posted November 30, 2006 Here's where I've gotten some of mine. I just bought a used Ito(the first pic in the first post) from here. Dan Quote
SneakySnook Posted November 30, 2006 Posted November 30, 2006 For $800 I rather get the new daiwa steez and a g-loomis rod. Sweet looking reel but I love the look of the second reel. Quote
Super User Raul Posted November 30, 2006 Super User Posted November 30, 2006 Steez is mainstream, those are limited edition. Quote
Vyron Posted November 30, 2006 Posted November 30, 2006 Lightninrod the monkey is very happy with u Quote
paparock Posted December 1, 2006 Posted December 1, 2006 The source where I have purchased some of my reels is: http://www.ginrinpeche.com/faq.php/language/en Quote
fish-fighting-illini Posted December 1, 2006 Posted December 1, 2006 Good luck getting them fixed and for $800 you couldn't throw it away if it brokethat's for sure. I'd hate to have to hassle with getting it sent out for repair. Then again if someone wants to donate one to me and it happens to break I'd be willing to sacrifice for the cause! lol Those had better catch min 10lb bass or I wouldn't own ( scratch that I mean pay for ) one. I love fishing but that would pay for a trip to vegas with air, hotel, food and pretty faced Luxuries! Ok cheap room and cheap pretty face but...? It would take a lot of fishing to equal the benefits of that trip! lol Quote
ThomasL Posted December 1, 2006 Posted December 1, 2006 On that last link was those black and gold stellas! :-* :'( :-* :'( I believe i'm having wish list problems now!!! :) I love my stellas so much i've bought spare spools, handles, rear caps, screws, drag knobs almost 150.00 in parts alone but they quit making my fa's. :-/ Quote

I'd hate to have to hassle with getting it sent out for repair. The only two reels where you could have some problem are the Scorpion Mg and Scorpion 1000, that 's if you break any component of the 4x4 SVS. The have exactly the same components you have in domestic reels. Quote
castaway Posted December 3, 2006 Posted December 3, 2006 They wouldn't do much for a person who was colorblind. ;D I see no reason for the high dollar tackle, but I am sure they are nice to fish with. I am still stuck with being fascinated with the Japanese baits, haven't found a desire to move up the food chain towards rods and reels yet. :-/ Ivan Quote
Guest avid Posted December 4, 2006 Posted December 4, 2006 Steez is mainstream, those are limited edition. I guess it depends what matters more. something great to fish, or something great to show off. Quote

Guest avid Posted December 4, 2006 Posted December 4, 2006 Pretty is nice, no doubt about it. But a fishing rod or reel, are outdoors tools. Even if used with care they are bound to get dinged up a little. I know guys with 50K bass boats who want go out in the rain I know guys who have such expensive pretty equipment, they won't fish in places where the rod might get a little scratch. When you pay all that extra money for cosmestics rather than utility, your gonna be more concerned about keeping it pretty than using it to catch slimy, scaly fish. No, lightingrod they are not mutually exclusive, but they often come pretty close. Quote
